Keeping your family's budget on track can be a difficult, if not frustrating, experience. We found that Simple Home Money Manager lives up to its title with an easy-to-use approach that makes it easy to know where your money is going.

The program's clean interface is easy to understand, but we liked the start-up wizard that takes users through the various steps of organizing their budget. With simple-to-understand categories of incoming and outgoing money, it's easy to enter individual items. Users can designate an entry's recurrence, add a note, and can even assign an icon. At the end of the Wizard session, users set their budget and they're ready to go. We were highly impressed with how simple this task was.

From there, a multicolored menu along the left side allows users to view accounts, make changes and run reports about their family's saving and spending habits. We liked the easy-to-understand graphs that show expenditure by category, and other budget information.

Our only complaints with the program are minor and have to do with installing and uninstalling the program. It adds a desktop shortcut without asking, and you'll need to manually delete a folder after you remove the program from your computer. Still, Simple Home Money Manager presents an intuitive program that practically anyone can jump right into using. The 15-day trial is short, but should still be long enough to fully evaluate the program. We highly recommend this program for anyone looking to stay on budget.

Very unstable and frustrating programme.

Pros
Easy to set up. Pretty graphics if you like bright colours and big icons. A bit like being in kindergarten.
Cons
Like other users, I'm having problems accessing some of the features after the initial setup. I have contacted their support team and they replied that they have sent my problem to the tect (sic) specialists and will get back to me in a day or two. Seeing as I'm using the 15 day free trial, they need to be a bit quicker than a couple of days when they've already taken one day to respond.
Summary
Thank goodness I haven't paid for this programme. I probably won't bother waiting for their reply before uninstalling. I've had nothing but problems since downloading it.

this is easy to use until you want to make your own types of accounts, then it becomes more difficult than quicken
Cons
sliding icons around is difficult for some people (me included), hard to find a way to make your own specific accounts, if you have ever used quicken or quickbooks this will be much different.

I love the interface of this program. The graphics are great and I found the program very user friendly.
Cons
When I attempted to open the program after the initial use I received an error message telling me the program was already in use. I uninstalled the program and re-installed it but it still wouldn't work.

Pros
The tile says it all SIMPLE Home Money Mgmnt. It features a cool interface, very simple inputs, provides basic basic budgeting functions. I've used Money, Quicken (which gets worse with each version, it peaked in 1999) and SHMM gives me the same bottom line info I need to manage my money. No unnecessary bells and whistles.
Cons
The sounds when navigating can get a little irritating. Doesn't allow import of .QFX files which is the format almost all major banks now use for exporting your statement data.

pretty easy to follow, nice layout, the pictures were a cool little feature. out of all the budgeting softwares i tried, this one was the easyest to use and it looked the coolest

it took me a little while to work out what to do, but i have tried other software on here and i couldnt even get some of them to work properly, they didnt have a user friendly interface like this one does. and downfall is the trial only lets u add one bank account =(
