Shuttle ESB is a project aims to provide a free open-source enterprise service bus. An enterprise service bus enables the implementation of a service oriented architecture that facilitates communication, using messages, between loosely coupled components from one or more systems. The components are loosely coupled in that the message source is unaware of the message destination. The various components are, however, tightly coupled to a contract (a message) and as long as all the parties within the system are aware of the message structures the behavior can be anticipated.
