Used ShiftWindow for Windows?
Editors’ Review
ShiftWindow lets you adjust the window size and location for various programs to help you keep your desktop organized and efficient. Create rules for programs you use often, and then assign hot keys to trigger specific window configurations, so you can always see what you want to on your desktop.
The interface of this program is not very intuitive, and the Help file doesn't include much useful information. It's really just tips that display across the bottom of the window and describe the various features of the interface as you roll your mouse over them. However, there aren't too many moving parts in this app, so if you play with it a bit, you'll get the hang of using it. On the left-hand side of the interface, you can make a list of the various rules you want to create for the windows of different programs. When you've added a new rule, you can then set its specifications using the entry boxes on the right-hand side. These include setting the window name, the size you want the window to be, the location you want the window to display, and the hot key you'd like to set for triggering that rule. Alternately, you can set a rule to automatically kick in every time you open that program.
This app is free, and while it's a bit cumbersome to learn, it works well. You can even use it to open certain windows in a particular monitor if you have more than one set up. So if you feel like your desktop needs better organizational structure, give ShiftWindow a try.
