This convenient tool lets you configure running start-up services, but it's definitely not for novice users, as it's missing a help menu. Service Tuner has a practical, tabbed interface that highlights its main functions and lets you view and save your current services' state for future use. The program includes four presets to modify your system's performance according to your needs. It also lets you change the state of a specific service from Manual to Automatic or Disabled with brief and clear descriptions of the service's function. We like that services that have been removed can be restored. The changing state of a service has a great impact on your system's performance, so we recommend a thorough analysis of the description of each service before any kind of configuration. Unfortunately, the program doesn't come with a help menu, so users must settle for the labels and a short description included in the interface. For that reason, novice users should stay away; however, users comfortable with Windows' service configuration will appreciate the convenience that this freeware provides.
