Sequence editing, reverse complement, protein translation, ORF finding, secondary structure, regular expressions, composition, isoelectric point, primer design, pairwise comparison, publish layout, sequence reformatting. Fetches sequence entries directly from the NCBI via Accession number or GID. Reads most sequence formats. This (Java) application is a collage of coding projects which I have written over the past several years for various clients in my work as a bioinformatics consultant. These clients have graciously allowed me to release these works into the public domain as freeware.

Excellent excellent!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I used to run the freeware GeneRunner when I worked on my Windows PC. After using an iBook as my main working computer I've been searching for a freeware sequence analysis tool. This is exactly what I wanted. At first I thought a Java program running on my 800MHz G4 would be slow, but I was wrong. The program is fast and responsive. It has all the tools I need, particularly sequence alignment and primer designs.
I'm looking forward to future releases with improved speed and features!
Great Program

Simply a must-have for bio scientists.

Great integration of components and very promising new features with every release. Many hurrahs to the developer!

Way to go and thanks for the continued development. One thing that would be useful for future versions would be contig assembly. If that were included this could do everything I need. Other than that.. great piece of software and keep up the good work!

I am amazed at the number of functions included, it rivals many of the commercial systems we can't afford. Now, if someone would like to write a tutorial, suitable for undergraduates.....?
