Second Backup is a simple but effective tool for storing information externally. While we initially were a bit confused by its interface, Second Backup proved to be a valuable tool for preserving data.

We needed to make a brief stop at the program's instructional Help file to fully understand the interface. Fortunately, a little reading unlocked the program's secrets. We were quickly able to take complete control, thanks to its simple Wizard-like layout. We immediately set up a Profile, which told the program specifically which files to back up, ranging from a single folder to an entire desktop, and on what device to save them. A mass storage device like a USB stick or external hard drive is the best choice for backups, but Second Backup will handle a range of devices. A pleasing surprise was its ability to schedule automatic backups by day, week, or month. It also lets you choose how many backup copies to keep, which helps conserve storage space. Second Backup quickly and accurately saved all of our data to the selected destination. It also has a neat feature that compares files, which could come in handy if you've made a lot of backup copies and need to determine which copies have specific information. Overall, we were able to overcome some interface issues to fully embrace this helpful program.

Second Backup is free to try for 30 days. It installs desktop shortcuts without permission. While it had a rocky start, its excellent backup ability earns it our recommendation.

A good backup Utility that does what it says

SecondBackup can keep multi-version backed up files, this feature is just what I need.
Cons
Nothing, so far.
Summary
SecondBackup has user friendly interface, it only take a little system resource, you can forget the program after you set it up, then it will backup your files Reliably.
External hard disk backup solution

This program is suitable to do external hard disk backup, it is ease to use, all skill levels user can use it, no need to train.
Cons
None that I have found yet.

This program not compressed the source files to a single file, the backed up files are readable, and it has a comparison function lets you easy to check if the backup is succeed.

If you have critical data in your computer, it is strongly recommended to make Multiple backups on different media, stored in different locations. If you already have a tape backup system, I suggest you do an additional backup to the external hard disk, Second Backup is a good tool for backup data to external hard disk.

Pros
You can chose what you want in your backup, either the whole drive, or just specific folders, or even everything of a particular filetype like all your photos, and it can archive multiple backup copied, zip each file t backup separately.
Cons
It is better if it has free edition.

Works great for 30 days.
Cons
It locks up and says you must register. You click the link - register and pay for it with credit card, it sends you a receipt - but NO key or registration code. - no place to enter a reg. code even if they did send a code! seems like a Scam to me
Summary
Too much aggrevation for simple software - spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to get reg codes and unlock computer.

For some graphics editor software, the source graphics file usually has a big size, it take up more and more hard disk space to store or backup these files. Second Backup is an easy-to-use file compress backup tool, it can compress each file to a separate .zip file, so the backed files only need a little disk space, and they are still ease to pick up for use because they are separate file.Second Backup can archive multiple versions backed up copies for different time (for example, the first copy for Monday is 'Backup_1', the second copy for Tuesday is 'Backup_2'). Automatically backup your important data (includes opening/using files and folders) to external hard drive, USB disk, network, and other storage device. Intuitive interface makes it easy to use, simply tell it which file or folder to backup, where and when to archive them, then it works reliably in the background and uses very little system resources. The backup task can be directed only copy the new or modified files, it monitors the source files and automatically backups the new or changed file to the destination. Automatic scheduling includes specific days of the week, days of the month, hours of the day, or any desired time intervals. E-mail notification lets you know the file backup status anytime and anywhere.
