LearnPulse's Screenpresso comes in two versions, free and paid, but the freeware still offers more than the typical screen capture tool, free or not. It captures HD video as well as still images, and its built-in editor can stitch images together to capture scrolling action. A portable version is included, too. Screenpresso's hot keys and system tray menu make it as easy to use as most screen capture tools (such as the Snipping Tool in Windows) and easier than many -- thanks, in part, to its stylish, intuitive tools and PDF-based User Manual.

Screenpresso's download offered fully-installed and portable versions. We chose the installed version. Like most screen capture tools, Screenpresso stays in the background, but a widget-like panel called the "Workspace" appears when needed or when you right-click Screenpresso's system tray icon (left-clicking opens the Main Menu). The Workspace displays screen capture thumbnails, and its toolbar let us capture, edit, and publish (post online) our images and clips. We could drag and drop files to and from the history panel to editing tools, e-mail clients, and other programs, too.

But a screen capture tool earns its place in action, and Screenpresso doesn't disappoint. Capturing your screen is as easy as pressing the "Print Screen" key. Similar hot keys activate HD video and an attractive screenshot region tool with crosshairs. The system tray menu has a full set of controls and also accesses a tabbed preferences sheet for changing hot keys and many other options. The HD video screenshots are nice, though not optimized for movies, as Screenpresso points out. The freeware only captures sound from your microphone, but that's enough for making training videos, documentation, and similar applications. If you're still using the Snipping Tool or similar wares, then you should try Screenpresso.

A Free Capture Tool That's Better Than Many Paid Ones!

Summary
I'm a long-time user of Snagit which is considered by many to be the 'gold standard' of capture tools. It's an excellent app however when they went to Version 13 the Snagit Editor component became buggy and crashed constantly. Granted, this might not be the case for all users, but I wasn't able to resolve the issues and began my search for a replacement app. After trying several I ran across ScreenPresso which ended my quest. The free version includes a ton of high-end features similar to those found in Snagit along with a few new ones! For most users the free version will probably be more than enough, however I wanted to support the developer and take advantage of the additional features included only in the PRO version. For $24 it was an easy decision!

Easy to use and intuitive interface. GUI is nice to took at and features are easily accessible. You can edit with it's included edit tool. You can also send screens shot to emails or social networks. Has more than needed features and options to please even the advanced user and simple enough for the novice.
Cons
Video is a little inaccurate but has been improved since latest update.
Summary
If you need a FREE screen shot tool that's fast, easy to understand with very little explanation then this is your tool.

I got this software to make some screen recordings of some visuals I am making for a project in a program that doesn't have video output capability. I have a dedicated computer which runs special, show critical programs, and I don't like to connect it to the internet because I have to turn off the firewall for the applications to interact with one another and I fear the system will be compromised. Because the free version doesn't allow you to use it without being connected to the internet, I (unfortunately) purchased the program without trying out the free version first. Although the website advertises that it will "capture HD video" and "Record your screen in video," when you open the box to record, a little window pops up to tell you that Screenpresso is optimized for desktop recording, not videos. It records natively in it's own codec (SPV1) and then requires you to download a converter (FFMPEG) which turns the file into an MP4. It also gives you the option of using several other system codecs. In my experience, every one of them was choppy and laggy, regardless of frame rate settings, etc. So, I can't say whether this is a good tool to show a simple desktop tutorial or make a screencast, but if you want to record your screen for a video game, a visualizer, or anything movie-like or movement intensive, this might not be the program you are looking for.

I only use the free version of this software as my screencapture needs aren't great, but I have been using it for 2+ years. Screenpresso is easy to use and intuitive and unlike a lot of other sreencapture software out there, doesn't require that you spend a ton of time learning how to use it. Somehow recently, of the functions in the settings was changed so I always had a blank screen when I took a picture. This wasn't cool and I tried to fix it but to no avail. I started looking around at other free screen capture software, thinking that the easiest thing to do would be to find another free kind. After too much time searching and testing, it was obvious that nothing is as good and easy as Screenpresso. Then it dawned on me to contact them via twitter (@screenpresso). I did this and told them my problems. Within an hour we had communicated via email and fixed my problem and now I'm back and happily using Screenpresso!!
Awesome software. GOOD, very good.

We can opt for install or esecujte this program as a portable program. Mani options and shortcut to execute Capture video screen (but free version is time limited for this function; It capture scrollable window (in internet too) in several times and then brings together all the pieces!

We can choose if install or not. It goes without need of installing even. Share images to any destinations (Facebook, Twitter, FTP, e-mail, ...). It save automatically and we can choose how many screenshot keep in memory.
Cons
Frequently appears pop-up asking you to buy the paid version. The program is also designed to record video screens but unfortunately this feature is limited to a few seconds. To be able to have this option completly it needs to pay version fee.

The software work fine and it's recommandable for downloading and using it.
