Sawmill is a powerful, hierarchical log analysis tool. It is particularly well suited to web server access and referrer logs, but can process almost any log. It runs either with a built-in web server, or as a CGI program on your web server, and publishes an intuitive graphical user interface which can be used from any web browser to configure and run Sawmill, or to view the statistics pages. The statistics pages are hierarchical, attractive, and heavily crosslinked for easy navigation. Complete documentation is built directly into the program. Sawmill provides an extensive set of features, including a persistent database, fine control over the appearance of stats pages, and versatile log filtering options.
It had the standard analysis tools you would expect
Cons
Took way too much time to operate on my high end, high bandwidth system. The software compromises many key operating system components and this software is far too unstable to receive a good rating. Seems to piggy back off key XP operating system and dot.net components that risk deletion when the program is removed. Removing the program seemed to delete critical DLLS.For example, upon removing the program, my computer alerted me that that my configuration had changed. Other programs, which rely on specific configurations for licensing, ceased to operate upon removal of sawmill. The final evaluation is that the program sawmill is very well named. It seemed to put my very expensive system and software licenses through a sawmill. This company needs to reevaluate not only how well its program operates, it needs to evaluate how its program compromises other software and licensing rights a user may retain. Until the company reevaluates its programming, and fundamentally, its operating ethics, it should recall this product.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Excellent server log application for Mac. I've tried several (in fact all available) for Mac and found this nearly as good as Urchin, which is prohibitively expensive for non-commercial users. The only pick I have is that the DNS lookup could be better--often it returns only the IP of the visitor and not the DNS name, although the name is found easily on Whois. Very stable, great documentation, frequent updates Highly recommended.
Stick with 6.5

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I guess maybe I am just too picky, but I was hoping through all of these versions, the look and feel would have gone to a much higher level. Nicer looking graphs and charts would be so nice at this point.

It links to a website whose Java links won't work with Safari. You'd think they would have tested this before putting it up.
