For a quick, free shot of Christmas fun, you could do worse than Santa's Gift Drop. The download file is the Flash game itself, not an installer, so be sure to save it where you can find it again. You control Santa's sleigh, which has an elf riding shotgun in back. Santa delivers presents to houses with the space bar, while the elf shoots aliens with the left mouse button. (The instructions say to use the space bar to fire upon the pursuing alien spacecraft, but that's incorrect.) You can move up and down with the mouse, or just stay at one level and shoot. The game ends when an alien craft runs into the sleigh. You can't change any settings or configure controls, and there's no music. Minimalists may enjoy the simplicity of Santa's Gift Drop.

Simple, Cute for Kids

Fast download, simple for my 7 year old, you use mouse to move sleigh up and down around aliens while hitting space bar to get presents to houses. If an alien ship hits you, you start over. Apparently the game progressively speeds up. (We just downloaded it so haven't experienced that yet.) Definitely follows the K.I.S.S. principal. No violent scenes (which is hard to find these days). Visuals are safe for kids, not grotesque.
Cons
Didn't see scenery changing thus far (unless it does later, I don't know). Would be nice if Santa's delivering presents "around the world" had some graphics (house styles, landmarks, pyramids, great wall of China, etc.) or scenery from around the world to put a little educational spin on it.

I don't normally review kids games, but, I placed this game on the children's account of a friends computer I was fixing and they absolutely loved it. It's there favorite game, so I'd recommend this for 5-9 year olds, or maybe the kid in all of us :)
