Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a standalone multiplayer game in which players wage war as Axis or Allies in team-based combat. In Enemy Territory Axis and Allied teams do battle in traditional single scenarios, or wage war through a series of linked scenarios in a totally new campaign mode. During combat players gain experience and skill, and through battlefield promotions are awarded additional abilities that remain persistent across an entire campaign.

Additionally, new character classes like the Covert OpS as well as an enhanced Engineer allow teams to perform reconnaissance, steal enemy uniforms, and construct battlefield structures and military installations in the midst of combat to gain tactical advantages for their team. All new game modes, maps and communication abilities require players and teams to develop advanced strategies and tactics in the struggle for front line domination.

Hard to setup a linux server with bots. Must install patches to play online.
Summary
This was a great game and still is a great game. I'd recommend paying steam $9.95 and downloading the original rtcw from there.

I played this game about almost 10 years ago. And it was the greatest free game ever. Now given the fact that its FREE and giving people freedom to make their own scripts, it has messed the game up. Ive spent so much time downloading packs that other people have made i cant even play the game. Ive tried to connect to 37 (yes ive counted) servers and i have downloaded something from each one and was still unable to play. Once i got connected i was kicked because i didnt have a certain pack. Even though i waited 7 minutes for it to download. Giving people freedom to make their own mods is a HUGE NO NO. Ruins that game for everyone. I cant even play a single match because everyone tries to change everything about this game. Stay away. This is no the same game that was made years ago

Good enough graphics, runs smoothly on my low-end laptop, looks a little like a mix between Halo and Team Fortress 2.
Cons
Never really that many people online, which is quite disappointing. It may be that there just aren't very many people who own this game on the West side of the US. I'm in Washington.
Summary
I would like it very much, possibly more than Halo Combat Evolved, if it weren't for the lack of players.

Objectives are great, not just shot and kill. Can be a medic, field op, soldier, engineer, covert op.
Cons
Master server is down and the developers are may not fix the list. So a quick fix for new and old players is to install this software. I have tested it and works.
