  Everything about this app is great, simply put it delivers. It saves you from a lot of regex-induced migraines.

  Cons

  A bit costly. Older versions had a buggy UI so always make sure you get the latest.

  Pros

  This is a serious regex testing tool that supports many different applications and languages. Aome testing tools focus only on Perl, or .NET, or JavaScript. This testing tool supports dozens of different programming languages and applications. There are cheaper tools out there, and free websites, but none of them match RegexBuddy's features.

  Cons

  It's not free. But it's worth the cost.

  Pros

  Great for creating your own regular expressions and dissecting existing regular expressions. There is also an extensive library of built-in regular expressions and you can test them against your data. You can export your expressions in various formats, like PHP, JavaScript, Perl, etc.

  Cons

  The UI might be daunting at first. But after a few uses, all but the completely non-savvy will get it.

  Summary

  I've actually bought this program twice now because I like it so much. (The second time for work). I've recommended it to co-workers. It's the best tool for creating and learning about regular expressions. You can write your expression, copy-paste in some sample data, and see if your expression finds what you were looking for. The included library of regular expressions contains tons of useful real-world examples, like how to parse an IP address, zip code, dollar amount, etc. The author's website is also a very handy reference. This guy is the Regex GURU. You can do no better than this software.

  Pros

  This tool surpasses any online regular expressions tool that I've seen. It's very intuitive to use; I didn't need to read the help file to learn how to use it. I suggest using this tool with "Mastering Regular Expressions" book by Jeffrey Friedl (http: //regex.info/).

  Cons

  If Download.com used Regex Buddy, they would have caught the URL I posted in the "Pros" section of this review. Since they didn't, my link made it in the review. (To be fair though, URLs are hard to pattern match.)
