The main problem with this program is its name, which implies an emphasis on recipe collection. Instead, Recipe Keeper Plus is a hodgepodge of options that include viewing recipes, playing games, and creating an annual budget. The recipe interface is functional but unappealing, with buttons to add, search, and modify entries and pull-down menus for recipes. It includes a basic Food Guide with suggested menus, and simple tools like a Menu Planner and Shopping List Manager. Import and export options are limited to one file type. You'll also find a journal, database of quotes, budget management tools, and other features that can be fun but are unrelated to cooking. While nothing is really wrong with Recipe Keeper Plus, nothing is really great about it either. There's a 15-day trial limitation. Anyone can use it, but recipe purists will want a more flexible application without the unnecessary add-ons.

Recipe Keeper Plus - ZDNet Shareware Award in the Home and Hobby Category. Recipe Keeper Plus is a useful and diverting collection of household information. The program includes more than 340 categorized recipes that you can sort and try, along with a grocery list generator that lets you add ingredients from the recipe or pick from a general shopping list. A new menu planner function rounds out the recipe portion of this program. A conversion table quickly shows common cooking measurements. Other menu choices include a household budget, a set of calculators, a collection of witty sayings, a cost-through-the-years chart and a historical recap so you can check what was happening on the year you were born. There are games like word scramble, tic-tac-toe, concentration, and crossword puzzles. The program is fun and easy to use. Now with Spell Check, larger recipe and budget input screens and more.
