  Rebol is tiny, elegant, and sooooo useful. I use it more than any other tool get scripting tasks completed quickly and effectively. Native network connectivity and many useful data types built in, CGI interface, database connectivity, unique data parsing features, easy learning curve. Scripts run unchanged on 40+ platforms. I love it!

  Cons

  Not enough people know about it. The community needs to grow - it's a shame so few people even know it exists.

  Simplicity and cross-platform abilities are what I was looking for, and I found it. I am really amazed that this free language is not being used everywhere. I downloaded and installed on Xp Pro and Red Hat 8.0 in 5 mintes, and was up and running the demo apps on both. Write a REBOL app one one sytem, can be used on just about any system out there. That can not be done with any other language or platform. For creating GUI apps in Linux you have to chose from KDE/Qt, Gnome/GTK, Python/wxPython (or others) and the list goes on and one making it extremely confusing and difficult, especailly with C/C++. Don't listen to me though, just download it and try it, and I'm sure you'll like it.

  If you were ever interested in automating anything related to networks, e-mail, or the internet, or working with things like currencies as built in datatypes, REBOL is the end-all solution. Please try it--I can't believe this scripting language is not more widely touted!
