An extremely light weight text editor that edits very very simple text documents. It doesnt handle or force you to handle .rtf files that Apple's TextEdit uses. Now you can edit and work with PC .txt or the orignal simple text documents without having to resave them as .rtf.
Very useful for some purposes; some very annoying points.

Pros
1. You can do web code pages in it, as in the old Simple Text.
<p>
<p>2. Unlike in Simple Text, where file size is very limited, you can create very large web pages in RST. If there is a size limit on RST files, I haven't reached it yet.
<p>
<p>3. Not bad for nothing!
Cons
Idiotic confusions, conflicts and restrictions about file name extensions, and about which application a file created in RST opens in. You CAN get round these obstacles, though, if you keep at it.

Pros
really simple text editor
Cons
Cannot be used by more than one user on same computer (never had this problem with other downloads). Text documents do not automatically open with this application, but will choose TextEdit first, Simpletext in OS9 next, etc. One has to change defaults in Get Info in each document first. Even then, sometimes out of the blue, the document changes types and will attempt to use Chinese Text Converter (HUH??!!) to open it. I wasted TWO HOURS after download trying to make it work. I wish I hadn't dumped my broken but probably fixable TextEdit.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This app is something that everyone should have. It's Super fast, easy to use, solid, plays well with tiger, and is free. Can't get much better then that. Sometimes I like to cut & paste text from the web for a fast print out, but don't want to open AppleWorks or Word. This little gem does two hops in the dock and your there. It opens anything and doesn't change it. It even has the spell check. It's just very cool and useful. Thanks

Very clean, easy, and solid.
The only thing that's needed is a REALLY cool icon. I take it the brushed metal look is too much to ask for. I can see that it was last updated in 2003, but I think people should see this again. I've been downloading all kinds of crappy writing application. I wish I found this earlier. Very Nice, Thank You.
