Technically not a program installer; misleading program
onemastemSeptember 16, 2010
Pros
Good layout, easy browsing due to well-placed filters
Cons
- Misleading; Does not explicit say it requires you to sign up to their website - Not a standalone program; Web-based program - To work, it requires you to register first at 2estates.com - Fees may apply; Number of posts varies on subscription
Summary
Technically, the setup.exe here is *not* a program installer. It's an application that (1) asks you to register at the owner's website to use the "program" (2) which is hosted at the owner's website. For the first time, I came across an setup.exe file that instead of installing the program first before asking the user to register, it asks you to register first before letting you use the program; while you can do the same thing at the the owner's website, 2estates.com. It's a smart ploy to make people signup at 2estates.com. I checked the website and it's a very interesting website and the layout is attractive and user-friendly, with the right filters found at the right position. My point here is why disguise an online registration as a program installer when you can *explicitly say this is a setup file that will ask you to register first and use the program within the owner's website*? Instead of surprising users like me, a complete, truthful description would be helpful. I suggest adding the following on the description: - Web-based program - To work, it requires you to register first at the - Setup will require you to sign up online on our site before you can use the software - No. of posts varies on your subscription and fees may apply: Free version allows 30 posts per month; fees apply to additional posts. See the pricing guide. Hope this is useful and save interested realtors the disappointment of finding this out for themselves.
