Rabbi Lapin studied under Gedolei Hador in Israel and Gateshead including his great-uncle Reb Elya Lopian ztz"l, Reb Chaim Shmuelewitz ztz"l, Reb Moshe Feinstein ztz"l, Reb Eliya Mishkovsky ztz"l and Reb Avrohom Gurwicz shelita the Rosh Yeshiva of Gateshead. Rabbi Lapin has been teaching Torah for over 40 years and led communities in Johannesburg and Los Angeles until his Aliya in 2019. He is the son of Rabbi A.H.Lapin zl, who was a prominent Rav and Dayan in South Africa and California.
