Easy to Learn, Use, and Help Everyone Understand Data

- Simple plug in to Excel. This integration makes learning and using a much easier task. The layout and the surprising number of helpful tools, charts, and templates is amazing! You can, literally, do EVERY THING you need to do and document for an improvement project in QI Macros. This enables you to create an Excel workbook for the entire project and have all your data, charts, and documentation in a single file.
- Cons
- For me, after doing PI work for over 25 years and using probably every statistics/SPC tool out there, the only CON I can think of is that I didn't find this earlier. The QI Macros website is absolutely full of helpful videos, templates, advice, and examples. You cannot beat the value you get with QI Macros.
- Summary
- Buy it. NOW! You will be glad you did. It really takes the stress out of projects, data collection and analysis, and is so accommodating to your needs to "customize" your charts with annotations, legends, logos, etc. I have it on my home computer and my work computer. It is THE most helpful SPC tool out there. It does everything the "bib boys" do at a fraction of the cost. Again, buy it. NOW! :-)

- I have been using QI Macros for over 10 years at multiple companies. For Excel users the tool creates multiple charts and graphs, plus it has templates and examples for items like Gage R&R and FMEA. Definitely a must have if you're doing data analysis or involved with quality metrics.

- The product is easy to install and to use; it's a good alternative to Minitab and uses Excel and your own data. You can redo the charts as many times as needed. There are Control Charts, Histograms and other Capability Analysis tools, Anova and other statistical tools. It has a couple of wizards. And, the website has tons of information (do a search for whatever chart or information you need) and a support page.

- The product may contain more charts/templates than you need, but you can pick-and-choose which ones you need and which you don't.

Lots of tools, much too complicated and no support

- There are pros to this excel add-in. There are tons of statistical tools that can you can use on your data sets and it makes things like correlation analysis a breeze.

- Where to begin... 1 - First off there is no instruction manual. They include a 2 page description of some of the tools on their website but that is about it. With over 50 tools in the package it is very difficult to find which one you need. Additionally, if you have any concerns about how the calculations need to be set up or are taking place there is no way to check (add-in encrypted in VBA). 2 - No support: Since there was no manual I had to call QIMacros multiple times to ask a simple question (Are blank cells counted as zeros or not included), and was told "THEY AREN'T SURE BECAUSE THEY AREN'T STATISTICIANS", WHAT?? 3 - Not a great output: once you do figure out how to use the product (without any help from QIMacros), the organization and output of the macro is rough at best.

- Overpriced, under explained, no support because staff doesn't understand product. Overall QIMacros is a nice stat package for excel but at $229 it is overpriced due to the fact that you won't be able to use 90% of the tools in a business setting (without knowing any of the underlying calculation/assumptions) and while there is tech support the staff do not have enough technical training or knowledge to help. Also, most people will probably only use QIMacros for one or two of the tools (I usually just use the correlation function) and the macros they have programmed are nothing special. My advice is, unless you are a statistician and plans on investing lots of time on the phone trying to understand the product, make you own table or spreadsheet. It'll save you $230, allow you to be confident in your calculations, allow you to have a cleaner output, and you may learn useful information for the future.
