As easy on the eyes as it is easy to use, Process 3 gives users the freedom necessary to be creative and the flexible framework needed to get things done. All within one versatile window, users can brainstorm, organize, schedule, plan, coordinate, collaborate and do the work.
Shows promise, bug extremely buggy and untrustworthy

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I was surprised to learn that this developer recently released a trio of new applications (Money, Relationship, and Operation) before they fixed some well-known and reported bugs in Process. I feel they would have done better to satisfy the needs of their existing customers before they sought to expand their market.
Process is, in concept, a great app that well combines outlining with calendaring and document management. Unfortunately, it is broken in all three areas and, as a result, largely unusable.
First, in outlining mode, there are serioues flaws that prevent a user from re-ordering and structuring existing items in an outline. Additionally, when creating new outline items, they often do not arrive in an outline where one would expect. This makes sorting a task list very frustrating and, ultimately, unsuccessful.
Regarding its calendar capabilities, Process does not manage its relationship with iCal effectively. It "pushes" new calendars and events to iCal well enough, but typically cannot handle any changes that occur to a Process-published calendar in iCal. Changing events on these calendars in iCal makes Process crash. Furthermore, rather than integrating with a pre-existing iCal calendar with a name identical to a Process project, Process will create a second iCal calendar with the same name, and this causes all sorts of problems with both Process and iCal.
Finally, in regards to documents, yes, as previous users have posted, it has a bad habit of eating Word files. However, another concern I have is the way that it manages a project's relationship with its files. If you fill up a project with files, they are to the existing, external documents, so if you move your Process file, the links become broken.
Process, in its current state, is like a proof of concept. Well, I like the concept, but it needs a lot of work to prove that it's ready for every day use.
Has potential, but severely lacking

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Nice interface, but missing important features. Has advantages over Hot Plan, but still not good enough for the money spent. I've emailed the developer twice with feedback and had no response. I haven't experienced the DOC and iCal problems because I don't store my DOCs in Process and my iCals are subscribed, not locally managed.
DON'T BUY UNTIL THE DEVELOPER STEPS UP TO THE PLATE AND IMPROVES THIS SOFTWARE.
Don't buy it

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
As previous reviewer noted, the application totally wipes your iCal data. However what is even worse is that it also ruins your Word documents. It builds a simplified preview in the Process window of the .doc document and this is fine but then it writes back the changes to the file!! All formatting and tables are gone.
As precious people have noted, the support is non-existent. Do not buy this software! Don't get fooled by the nice appearance, it will eat up all your data. This is afla quality software and should never have been sold in the first place.
Still Bugs

Beta 3 Works Great

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
iCal syncing now works correctly in Beta 3, no more deleted calendars. Most of the bugs I noticed from the 2nd beta are gone, too. (My review below this one is of the 2nd beta, even though the version-heading lists it as beta three for some strange reason). This beta is easily stable enough to put it to full use, and is a real pleasure to use with such a great UI and functionality. This is easily my favorite outlining and organizing app with so many cool features like smart folders, linking, etc.
This is the one to get!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I agree with Andre. I also have used OmniOutliner as my preferred outliner for a long time as well and I had the same positive reaction when I saw Process. Once you've tried a few outliners, you will see why we like Process so much. Here is why I like it better than OmniOutliner:
* Nicer UI (columns, colors organization, etc.)
* You can set priorities AND alarms for line items
* Multiple outlines in one window (select using pull-down menu)
* Very cool 'Source' feature where you can link items to external (Word, picture, txt) files and urls. Also you can 'Reveal in Finder' to get to the source file in one click!
* Import/export OmniOutliner files.
I wish it had:
* Check for updates... feature
* A line item/group alias feature (for reusing hierarchies in multiple places)
- I used to use that feature in More (remember that app from the past ;-)
* Keynote export
A real gem!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've tried and used all available outliners for Mac OS X, but Process is the one which appears to be more Mac-like than any other app.
After using OmniOutliner for quite a long time, I've switched to iOrganize more than a year a ago. iOrganize is nice as it supports tabs (which OmniOutliner doesn't), but when I first saw Process I had to switch immediately. The user experience is so much better! As I said: a real gem!

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.

I've been experimenting with Process today. It's a nice looking product, and something I might consider purchasing in the future. However, without fixes for the following problems, noticed in just a half-hour of use, the product isn't ready:

Undo is very buggy. Indents and outdents canâ??t be undone. After editing text and changing the selection to a different field, the Undo Typing item is active in the Edit menu, but it doesnâ??t do anything.

If I add a note to an item and then add a source to it, the note text is no longer visible. The only way to see the note text, as far as I can tell, is to delete the source. You might say that I should use the comment field for my notes, but then why let me type in the note section. It seems like maybe there should be three panes---outline, source, and notes.

I cannot drag and drop links into the outline or onto the source field. I have to create a new item, select the source field for editing, and then drag the URL onto the field.

When an item is colored with a label its priority is no longer colored.

There is no mechanism to search based on a label.

Search is impossibly slow. Even with just a subset of my task outline imported there is over a 1 second delay between pressing a key on the keyboard and the character showing in the search field.

Find doesnâ??t work on outlines.

Using the hotkey for indent causes the indented item to be unselected and the outline scrolls back to the top.

Iâ??ll be looking forward to updates to fix these issues. This is definitely a product to keep an eye on, but I wouldn't trust my data to it just yet.

Process looks very promising.

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The integration of outliner with alarms and due dates is a definite crowd pleaser ... no other outliner for OS X has this that I know of, but PocketNotes and Liner. (Both seem defunct, as they haven't seen an update in a coon's age).
The Source function is very nice -- the ability to see your documents and web pages without having to open them in a separate application. I would like to see more source file options eventually like Mail, Address Book Contacts, Images (jpeg and png, etc).
I think Process would be instantly more usable for outline users, if there were better keyboard shortcuts and more of them (including a keyboard shortcut to create a child of the current item).
If it is going to be a robust outliner, that should be a given. As is, it's a bit awkward if you are used to other outliners, like OmniOutliner and NoteTaker, which allow for the standard tab key to indent (and shift tab to outdent).
A hoist option would also be most welcomed, as well as a way to see your outline in multiple background colors, other than just white. And the already powerful search could be enhanced with options for finding items with a certain label or priority.
Lastly, if iCal sync was added so you could see a cross reference of any of your project's tasks in iCal (user-selectable and/or those with "Due Dates"), and you could also create tasks/items with links to your Address Book contacts (or vice versa through source files or otherwise) ... well then, that would no doubt be a system I'd not hesitate to switch over to for complete project management.
As is, Process is definitely a refreshing new addition to the outlining/to-do management software currently available for OS X. I hope to see its continued development and evolution.
