• Does the job but with many inadequacies

  Pros

  - Inexpensive, $40 for an entire year. - Always dependable, working year-round. - Has a select handful of regions you can run PIA through - Excellent at protecting your IP Address, I have Cox Cable and have not heard anymore complaints while using Torrents and PIA at the same time (it's important all three checkmarks are selected under PIA settings: DNS Leak Protection, IPv6 leak protection and VPN Kill Switch).

  Cons

  - NETFLIX does NOT work when using PIA, which is the biggest con. Netfli working in a different, less regulated country would convenience you to Netflix's entire database as opposed to certain movies/shows that they legally cannot provide you in the USA. - Not as efficient as some free web proxies that can virtually proxy in every country in the world. Only has a small handful of regions you can use PIA. - Internet speeds slow down, typically 75-80% of potential when running PIA Internet sometimes does not work after deactivating/disabling PIA. You have to go into IPV4/IPV6 settings and change them yourself or you will remain in limbo. - They automatically recharge you after a year without your consent if you do not request to terminate service. That's a long 1 year non-consensual commitment. They should give you the option to renew, not just automatically renew you.

  Pros

  Low cost by the year. Very good tech support by Ticket (usually get help within two days). Easy to adjust settings over the Defaults. Great web site that answers just about every question and gives much needed information. Seven day money back guarantee.

  Cons

  None so far after almost a week of use on two laptops.

  Summary

  I studied and compared five paid and three free VPN's. Free is OK but very limited whereas paid have unlimited bandwidth with usually five devices to connect, Private Internet Access won me over based on its locations for VPN's, price, and performance-- at least for this first year.

  Pros

  1) This VPN is only $39.99 for 1 Year & no difference to those $80 - $100+ VPNs 2) This VPN is Torrent Download friendly has a guide online & even live tech support chat for additional security configuration, but the app is all you need. 3) Speeds are now on par with your internet subscription, I pay for 100mb service & I usually get between 85mb & 100mb speeds now Through the VPN, this was not the case 3 years ago so their system has received a major upgrade

  Cons

  none any more, about 3 years ago I was getting between 30 and 50mb connection speeds through the VPN out of my 100mb internet service plan, last year I was getting about 75mb out of the 100mb and this year it's as close to my actual speed as I've ever seen, practical the full 100mb, interesting thing I did notice was that even when my speeds were slower 3 years ago everything seemed to load faster, it's just a more efficient connection

  you can't beat this VPN, don't be fooled by those high priced VPNs pitching you can't put a price on you're privacy and cashing in on your fears and charging you as much as triple, interesting little story, I do or more accurately did a lot of Torrent downloads, now a days there's this free streaming app called Kodi but that's separate story, I literally went to many VPNs web sites and chatted with the agent, I asked specifically do they keep logs most said no and asked a worse case scenario question about someone downloading copyrighted material and getting subpoenaed for a lawsuit for the infringement by the Movie or Music industry, and at that time a lot of the companies would either say we don't allow Torrent Downloading or only upon receiving a court order would we be forced to release your IP address, so many did keep records/logs a few didn't, many costing over $100 per year then I chatted with this VPN it was a clear cut we don't keep logs and we encourage Torrent downloading it's a technology that can be used for many things, agent wrote if we received a subpoena to release your IP our legal team would advise them that there are no logs, I chatted on 3 different days and got the same non compromising direct answer

  Cons

  Had problems installing and running software, was told there was no phone support and sent an unhelpful youtube tutorial link. Tech support via e-mail only, response time OK but wanted immediate help.

  Summary

  In this day & age for a service like this to be competitive, phone support must be available. Any program can come with a technical glitch or two, and this one probably runs fine once the glitches are ironed out, but if I can't get a human being on the phone it's a non-starter.

  Kill Switch (disconnects autotmatically if the service drops) Very High Encryption Levels. Multiple Protocols, including UDP/TCP OpenVPN Extremely quick conncections. Included remote firewall. Allows up to 5 simaltaneous connections Cross platform support. Support Forum DNS Leak Protection Extremely Cheap service Supports P2P Doesnt maintain logs Multi share IP address. (Making tracing of users almost impossible).

  Cons

  Uses third party hosts as part of the service. (Some of whom have questionable reputations) Creates multiple random files in random directories (Upsets firewalls like Comodo and Kaspersky) Poor customer service (Also not 24/7) Coverage (Limited to 9 countries, primarily in the US and Europe).

  Summary

  This is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best VPN services for the price. It is fast, feature rich and includes multi platform support for up to 5 devices. I have been using this service for 3 months now and not had any problems at all. My one concern was the lack of destinations covered. For those in Europe and the US, worried about security, this should be sufficient. For P2P Netherlands worked particularly fast when connected from the UK and northern Europe). Exceptional service, exceptional price. Exceptional security. Only marked down because of lack of coverage.
