Prelude to Darkness is a dark fantasy shareware RPG featuring a skill-based party, tactical combat, and a huge, unique world of hundreds of NPC's and quests. Two human races have dwelt peacefully in the river Valley watched over by the protective Goddess for a millenia. But times change and tensions grow. The People of the River are no longer content with the new comers, the Children of the Flame and terrorism and murder are on the rise while crops are failing. You must seek out the source of this Rebellion as clandestine agents for the Watcher of the Valley.

Summary
This is by far the best RPG I have ever tried. It is like playing D&D with the best Dungeon Master you could hope for. It is the first game I have ever registerd after hundreds of downloads. True, there are kinks that will hopefully be worked out and fixed with the release of a patch. I don't like it when it crashes and locks up my computer, but at least that gets me to look at my watch and realize I need to take a break. This is a real RPG not a mindless, computer directed journey where you simply kill and drink potions. I hope this game catches on and encourages more.
