• Not Intuitive.

  Pros

  Has reporting capability we were looking for. (That is, if we can set this up to finally use it.) Compared to other software out there it was something we could afford.

  Cons

  Not intuitive. For example, to edit forms you go to the Support tab. To configure GPA, Terms, Pre-Requisites you need to go to Support > Administration > Look Up Tables. I am pretty tech savvy, except I don't know any programming but I was able to set up another SIMS without any prior knowledge. I can't imagine any of our staff being able to figure RollCall out. Poor Manual & Tech Support. The phone number for customer support on the website would just ring but now forwards to a voicemail after sending an email. Our point person doesn't sound like she wants to help, like she can't be bothered. I emailed her about a demo she suggested but no response. She does give email support (still hasn't returned my call) but she's difficult to understand like the manual. She writes in long paragraphs with lots of words but it's still confusing. Is it because I'm not a programmer that I don't speak her language?

  Summary

  There is something that doesn't flow about this. Not intuitive. Poor Manual & Tech Support. If you are going to use this, see if you can test it out for a while, play with it a lot because most likely you are going to be on your own to figure it out. Perhaps with RollCall you would need someone who is a programmer or have formal IT training to use it. I am going through each item, trying to figure out what connects with what, etc. With RollCall being this difficult to do simple tasks (or trying to figure out to do things) is a nightmare. We haven't transferred our students to this software. It is also very slow for us. You have to increase bandwidth so be sure you have tech guy who can access your server and bandwidth. We had other server issues that needed to be fixed in order for the student and instructor portal to work. I have read other reviews for this and they say it's easy to use. I really would like to contact these schools and people to get a real feel and idea of how they are using it. If we didn't invest so much money in it so far I would tell my school to not use this. You think it'd be simple to set up classes, import instructors, get year/terms set up, then import students but then there are the forms and that has its own challenges. It seems like each step we run into a brick wall.
