change cache & cpu clock speed on PowerLogix cards
CPU Director allows you to view and configure the cache and processor clock speed settings on your PowerLogix upgrade card. The included utilities allow you to enable or disable the cache "on the fly", change the speed at which your backside cache operates and automatically enable the cache at this speed at boot time. If your upgrade uses an IBM 750FX or 750GX processor, you can also change the processor clock speed "on the fly" as well as the speed at which to set the processor when rebooting. There are also options to disable speculative access (a problem with OldWorld machines that originally did not ship with a G3 or G4 processor) and enable dynamic power management. Finally, if your upgrade uses multiple-processors, and you are running Mac OS X, you can view and change these settings on a per-processor basis.

...achrive privious version to install
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
PLEASE READ !!!!! ****** DON'T Believe the Hype -Below - to a point ****** Was able "to successfully" install "update" the word is install... In safe mode managed to install then never loaded during verbose mode throttle issue. Then with FORCE restart severely corrupted by hard drive to the point where disk first aid in both Install DVD and classic could not fix this is Severe!!!! I had to resort to rebuilding the desktop remember that option??? In classic? After doing that I was able to revert AGAIN Back to 10.4.7 the ONLY stable OS for upgrade cards...
In my Opinion this is MacSales and Powerlogix FEBEL attempt for a fix for an OS that apparently is figuring out how to disable these card from working...
Next year I am buying a new Mac and selling my Card on eBay and NEVER refer anyone to MacSales / OWC again.
They have your money but no support...
****** DO NOT INSTALL This Update: OS Freezes during PKEXT install and never does install **** Waste of a Saturday morning re-installing OS 10.4.7 (Only stable version- For Powerlogix Processor Card...
4 months waiting for a update that is even worse than 2.3b5 because with 2.3b5 at least you get an error message instead of your OS Freezing.
If this is sign of how PowerLogix and MacSales supports their products, would think twice about supporting them....

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have a TiBook 1GHz that I over-clocked to 1.2GHz and this is the only app that accurately displays CPU speed, 1.2GHz full and 667MHz reduced. Any other app seems to read some setting still showing 1GHz - even when the processor is reduced.
THANK GOD

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
3 MONTHS!!! Hey i'll be happy if they just continue supporting 10.4.x til the end, wouldn't mind if they didn't support 10.5. Who knows if 10.5 will even run on a PPC... may be INtel only... It did freeze while installing CPU Director... reboot and it fine now.
I'm Giving 'Price' one star because it cost me 3 months
They Released 2.3b4. Hooray!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The release of CPUD v2.3b4 for OS X 10.4.6 is on the PowerLogix front page, thankfully. It's good to know OWC/PL can do it when they try. CPUD does almost all I need it for. The only criticism I have is for OWC/PL's poor past support regarding 10.4.5 when we had to wait several months for the update, which was soon redundant when 10.4.6 appeared. A very delayed Hooray!
works great here...

I have a fully loaded 9600 with all PCI slots used. XPostFacto helping it running X. Had some problems activating L2/L3 cache when upgrading 10.2.8 to 10.3.9, the Director 2.1 now seems to make it work stable again (1.5f didn't).
Works as advertised!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have used this FREE utility for years. Now kindly updated for 10.4.2, CPU Director works flawlessly. On my slot-load iMac, upping the L2 cache ratio one notch adds a nice zip (any more is too fast for this machine and will eventually result in a kernal panic). Nice little tweak for an older Mac.
Something seems fishy here . . .

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Although CPU Director 2.1b1 beta seems to operate on my B&W Mac with a PowerLogix 1.2 GZ ZIF G3 processor, after setting the opetaing speed of the ZIF, there is little noticeable operating speed difference. Since I have nothing with which to benchtest the processor speed, I would like to find and hear back from someone who can thoroughly test the performance stated by CPU Director. After all the problems I have had with this ZIF processor (I am on my third one!) I often think that the performance boasts are just that. This software, at least, makes it "seem" to operate correctly with OS 10.4.2.
