Developer’s Description

The objective of the game is to navigate the player's character through the dream world Subcon and defeat the main antagonist.

The objective of the game is to navigate the player's character through the dream world Subcon and defeat the main antagonist. Before each stage, the player chooses one of four different protagonists to use: Twilight, Lyra, Trixie, and Luna. All four characters can run, jump, and climb ladders or vines, but each character possesses a unique strength that causes them to be controlled differently. Players can move either left or right, as well as vertically in waterfall, cloud and cave levels. The characters cannot defeat enemies by jumping on them; but they can stand on, ride on, and jump on the enemies. Instead, the character picks up and throws objects at the enemies or throws the enemies away to defeat them. These objects include vegetables plucked from the ground or other enemies.

The game consists of 20 different levels across the seven worlds. Levels contain multiple sections or rooms that are connected via doors or ladders. Some rooms are accessible by entering certain jars. Magic potions found in each level are used to temporarily access "Sub-space", an inverted area where the player can collect coins and Apples that increase the character's maximum health. In addition, certain jars, when entered in Sub-space, will warp the player to the later worlds, skipping levels altogether. Other items available include cherries, which are collected in order to acquire a Starman; and the POW block, which can be used to quickly destroy all the enemies visible on the screen.

[Controls]

D-Pad: Left/Right will move the character in that direction. Down can cause your character to duck (hold DOWN to stay crouched, charge up the super jump (hold DOWN till starting to flash), enter a vase, and to go DOWN a ladder/vine/etc. UP will allow your character to move up a climbing apparatus.

START: Start and pauses/unpauses the game.

A Button: When pressed, you character will leap into the air. A tap will get you a partial jump, holding it will give a full jump.

B Button: This button has a few functions including: hold the B Button to run, to pick up an enemy/plant/item, and throw an enemy/plant/item, and digging through the sand in the pyramids. It can also be used to stop the scrolling items in the Bonus Round.

[Characters]

Twilight (1st pony)

Jumping: The height on her jump is second to Lyra. She ranks third for hang time (time spent in the air) to make her seem to be an average jumper at best.

Plucking: Twilight has got some decent ability to pluck plants, enemies, and items with the strong upper body she possesses. She is second only to Trixie for speed of her picking things up.

Lyra (2nd pony)

Jumping: Lyra has the highest jump of all characters. She also seems to walk across the air with her kicking legs, and seemingly endless hang time. The best jumper of the bunch is Lyra, so pick her for any level that requires a great leaper.

Plucking: Lyra may be a jumping fiend, but her upper body strength leaves a lot to be desired. She has only the third best picking ability of the team, but she still has a respectable speed to her plucking.

Trixie (3rd pony)

Jumping: She is the shortest member of the team, so she has the worst leap of the whole group.

Plucking: She can pull things up much quicker than her friends. She is the fastest for picking up anything that is not nailed down.

Luna (4th pony)

Jumping: Luna ranks in as third best jumper for height. She has surprisingly strong legs, but height jumping is not her forte. Her real strength comes her ability to defy gravity for a short time with her hover-jump. By holding the A Button down after she jumps, she can float for a few seconds, which allows her to get maximum distance for any of the characters on a jump.

Plucking: Luna may have serious hang time, but her upper body is weak. We are talking like someone fresh out of the body cast after one year inside it. She is the slowest plucker of the bunch, so take her only if you need her hovering skills.
