Read and write BAM files on your PC.
Picard was built as a set of tools using the Java programming language so that you can work with next generation sequencing data in the BAM format. Picard manipulates SAM files, and a Java API (SAM-JDK) for creating new programs that read and write SAM files. Both SAM text format and SAM binary (BAM) format are supported.
