1. Overview Phakchi is a new type Thai Keyboard that runs on both iPhone and iPad. There is a standard Thai keyboard in iOS. But it is a little difficult for Thai language learners to use it for some reasons like below.(1) There are a lot of characters and symbols on the standard Thai keyboard, and they are arranged randomly. So its not easy to find the character that you want to input.(2) There are some similar characters in Thai consonant characters. It is difficult to distinguish them.(3) The button size is small, so it is easy to happen input errors. Phakchi solves these problems, and we aimed to make a friendly keyboard to Thai language learners. In addition, Phakchi can change the screens automatically based on the prediction rules that are generated from over 4,500 Thai words, so you can enter Thai sentences comfortably. We hope that Phakchi becomes your help to spread the Thai language world.2. Spec(1) Characters: Thai characters, Thai Numbers, Numbers, Alphabets, ASCII Symbols, Unicode Symbols (such as document symbols or graphic symbols used in the SNS)(2) Compatibility: Phone 4S, iPhone 5(S,C), iPhone 6(S), iPhone 6(S) Plus, iPad Retina models, iPad Pro(3) OS: Requires iOS 8.3 or later(4) Languages: English, Japanese(5) Options: You can add the click sounds. You can select the auto-screen-change mode based on the Prediction. You can add how to call information on the buttons of Thai language.3. Setting up3.1 To register Phakchi to the keyboard menu1) Tap the Settings icon on your Home screen, and navigate to General -> Keyboard -> Keyboards.2) Tap the Add New Keyboard and choose Phakchi. Then KakiThai - Phakchi is added the keyboard menu. After the update, this setting is required again.3.2 How to add the click sounds It is necessary to allow Phakchi to full access in the keyboard menu. All the custom keyboards of iOS need this setting to add the click sounds.1) Tap KakiThai - Phakchi on keyboard menu.2) Turn on the Allow Full Access switch. When you turn on this switch, iOS displays a warning message that the keyboard developers possibly gather users information, however we dont collect personal information through using Phakchi.3) Tap the Home button to close the Settings screen. This setting must be done only once. To change the click sounds on-off, please use the Click Sound SW of Options.3.3 How to call PhakchiFirst, run any app (like Safari) on your device, and call the standard keyboard. Long press the globe icon of that keyboard. Then the keyboard menu is displayed. Choose KakiThai - Phakchi.4. Features(1) Since all the characters and symbols are arranged in dictionary order, easy to choose.(2) How to call information with IPA can be displayed on the buttons of Thai language, so you can distinguish similar characters.(3) You can reduce input errors, because using scroll screens and we made button size bigger.(4) You can input Thai characters comfortably using Prediction.(5) A wildcard button is useful to input a short word.(6) Seamless input Alphabets and Thai characters. (7) In the running, the screen design is adapted in response to the rotation of the vertical and horizontal directions.5. How to deal with Phakchi To use Phakchi as the current keyboard, first you need the Setting up. Please refer to the Setting up section of the Information page. To input Thai characters, it is necessary to change the consonant screen and the vowel screen by tapping the cons-vowel switch buttons. The vowel screen includes 15 vowel symbols, 4 tone marks and other symbols like an ellipsis and a repetition mark. If the prediction comes into play, the screens change automatically. It is difficult to predict short words. So the wildcard button will be useful. You can input a vowel letter or a tone mark without changing screens. To return to the Basic mode, tap the cons-vowel switch buttons.
