It does not work (not for me anyway).
Summary
All I needed to do was change a phone number in some old PDFs. Seemed pretty simple, but unfortunately it didn't work. I tried some other really simple changes too, but they failed as well. Maybe this works for some versions of the PDF spec, but not for my documents. Back to manual changes for me then.
