Editors’ Review
As its title suggests, this program simply copies file paths and sends them to the clipboard, but installation wasn't as intuitive as we'd expected.
Path Copy, unlike most applications, doesn't come with the typical installer program, such as EXE or MSI files. You'll need to visit the README file first to learn how to install it. Path Copy doesn't offer a dedicated interface, but it's integrated with the Windows shell and lets you copy file paths with a right-click context menu. The program copies the long and short filename, directory name, file path, as well as UNC and Internet paths for shared files and directories.
We like that Path Copy gave us the option to create our own copying methods by defining how paths are copied. We were able to replace texts, convert backslash to forward slash, change letter case, and enclose paths in quotation marks. Aside from the unintuitive installation, we were able to copy file and directory paths and create our own copying methods with no hassle.
Overall, this freebie is reliable and easy-to-use. Intranet developers or anyone who needs this type of functionality won't be disappointed with this application.
