I have been a part of NB for over two years, and Craig (the creator and commissioner of NB) keeps us guessing as to how cool he will improve NB the next time he updates the program...

  Pros

  Seeing that I have only been involved in this sim a short time, I am already addicted to it. There are so many things it has going for it. From the total control as being the owner/gm/manager, ie, setting up the contracts, deciding the type of pitching rotation, the pitching roles, ie starters relievers, mop-up, set-up and closer, who will pinch hit and when, claim and release players from the waiver wire, etc etc. <p>I can say that I have played many different sims such as Strat-O-Matic,OOTP, Diamond Mind, and Pursue the Pennant, and I can actually say that NONE have the depth this game does. <p>While it does have a fairly steep learning curve involved, it is really not that difficult to grasp. The help manual is very detailed and if you can't find the answer there, just go into the forums and the other owners I am sure will be more than willing to help you out. I know they have helped me out tremendously. And these are the same owners that I am playing against. <p>To finish this section, I just want to say this is a great game and ANY baseball diehard and true baseball fan would love it. The only thing lacking is the ballpark smells and the crowd hecklers.

  As I said above, the game has a steep learning curve. I do not really think this is a game for the novice BUT that is easily able to be overcome if you are just willing to take the time and read and ask questions.

  You control 100% of the team. You make all of the decisions. If you need help with anything, someone is always there to help. This is the best baseball manager game I have found and I have looked everywhere.

  Pros

  Its fantasy baseball at its BEST!! It can include most players that have played any significant time 50 at bats to 20 innings pitched or more.

  It takes time, one to learn how to be competative and each week making sure the team is set to compete and you can go bankrupt if you are not careful.

  Pros

  The players are from all eras - the team I built had Rogers Hornsby with Jason Giambi, Bruce Sutter with Keith Foulke. From drafting to generating rotations and lineups (throw in trading and waiver wires), this game takes you throughout the baseball operations, with the emphasis on playing games against other real owners. It recently has added a drafting pool that functions as a minor league system.

  I fell in love with this game in college, and I am still playing after graduate school. Great game - I appreciate baseball alot more now!

  How many times while watching a baseball game, and you see a manager make what you think is a bad move, or your GM makes a bad trade, and you say to yourself, " If I was the manager or GM, I would do such and such ".??? <p>Well with NB you can do just that, this is your team, you can do whatever you want within the rules.. <p>You can draft the guy you want if he is still available, you can keep him or use him as trade bait, what is cool is that you may be able to choose a guy from the 1800's or players still playing today. <p>You decide if you want to build your team around a strong pitching staff or your own version of murders row. <p>You can set up your own batting and pitching line up. <p>What can be more fun, than to take a team in the beginning of a season that has dead meat in your lineup, but with some shrewed moves, trades and whatever, you create a team that can really compete. <p>What a fun way to match your wit's againts others baseball loving owners, that are out to beat you as much as you are out to beat them.... <p> I simply can't get enough!!!

  Pros

  This is an excellent program. The real strength is that the comish is always trying to improve the product. Having Bench, Ripken, Mays and Feller on my team is a dream team for me! Owners in the league are very helpfull and encouraging to new owners. If you love baseball you need to join this program!

  I agree the learning curve is steep but there is plenty of help!

  Be owner, General manager and manager with players from every baseball generation from 1890 to the present. Leagues for every level and schedule.

  Fairly steep learning curve but so is owning and managing a baseball team! The effort is very rewarding.
