• Absolutely great product. A must have for pool managers

  Pros

  - A great product for experienced web site developers and for those with absolutely no experience alike. - Takes manual work out of running a pool. A simple click of a button does that for you. - Lots of pool options. Lots of NFL and pool stats automatically created and available to your poolies on your website. - No need to have your own server to host your pool web site (you can opt to host on your own server if you want). PM 2014 offers that web space to you with all the site deployment tools built in. - Creates all the web pages for you! You can access the pages local on your PC so those with a little html experience have access to customize their pages. - Great active support and product development. I can't say enough about this! A nice web site forum is open to all users. Product developers are VERY active on the forum providing personal assistance if needed. A community of experienced product users are also very active and helpful to experienced and non-experienced users.

  Cons

  If you don't like to have all the work done for you with the push of a button and instead prefer to do all that manual work yourself... then this product may not be for you.

  Summary

  I've been a user of Woofpool for years. NFL Pool Manager 2014 took over where Woofpool left off. Lot of additional great new features, new program developments, and active product support. Previous Woof users will find this product seamless and comfortable to use with a familiar look and feel. New users will be amazed with the ease of installation, ease of use, and all the professional web pages the program creates."

• Gets the Job Done and is Easy on the Pool Manager

  Pros

  It works. It handles multiple pool types. There is an option to have a hosting site included.

  Cons

  About the only con is that the software isn't today what it will be next year. The developers have made huge strides over a legacy product that many of us used, but Rome wasn't built in a day.

  Summary

  After cringing over watching others handle a pool via paper and fax, I took over the pool management about 10 years ago. Friends and family play. It's a lot of fun. At that time I was lucky enough to find WoofPool, which was great for it's day, but the author stopped making improvements as time went on. A robust community of pool managers shared information on a web board that two managers put together. Different managers added different post-processing tweaks, but then came the announcement that WoofPool was no more. The two board managers, Hugh and Steve, took the bull by the horns and morphed WoofPool into the NFL Pool Manager 2014. A lot of pesky bugs were fixed. A lot of improvements have been made. The players all make their picks online (unless you want to offer paper copies and hand-enter their picks -- yuck), then the pool manager runs the software to update the web page. One day I imagine that active server pages will be added to this product, but not this year. The download.com version is a bit out of date, but you can run an update once installed. The update process is fully automatic. Under the Help heading, you can find the link to the web board community. There are many of us very grateful that this product is around so that we can run our pools efficiently. The fun is in having the pool, not in managing it.
