  It doesn't capture the outgoing packets, only the incoming packets. Part of the install recommends installing a feature, which it then says is unstable so beware it doesn't crash your system !

  The 1.5.2 version available free on download.com supports one-way (inbound) capture only. V2.x available directly from NetworkActiv.com for $30 supports bi-directional capture. Otherwise, it's a very easy to use product.

• I installed this on our internet proxy server, and now we have no internet!

  It took me quite a while to figure out ether real's filtering system. This was a cinch to get it filtering specific source and destination packets.

  I've been looking for a quality packet monitor that was reasonably priced for quite a while. This app fills the bill and then some. The ability to set up the capture filters and also have it search packet data for you is invaluable. Like a previous response said, it does what it says and it does it well ... and not a lot of apps can say that.

  Does the job easily and seamlessly with a zero learning curve. I teach IT courses and this software is SUPERB for showing students what data packets are used for/consist of: 3-way handshakes between a client and server, their contents, header port numbers and protocols used, ACK and SYN bits, source and destination addresses, DNS lookups etc.
