Unlike other applications in chat programs, NetPen has a very simple and easy to use interface that doesn't get in the way with the communication process. This is a great tool for communicating across the network in a visual way.

Features: Any drawn element can be set to fade away; Has an unlimited number of public and private pages; Any number of clients can connect to a host; Allows many pen colors and shape color fills; Has simple intuitive controls for lines, rectangles, circles, text, & textures; Text can be in any font, just point the mouse and type; Supports cutting and pasting, voting, testing, and more. Pros
A little over a year ago I spent several weeks searching for a whiteboard collaboration tool. Several were very expensive while others required complicated backend server configuration. NetPen hits the sweet spot in ease of use, flexible network configuration, security and feature set. Best of all it will not cost you a dime. There are a number of features I find particularly useful. These include the ability to have multiple pages to separate different areas of discussion, on the fly scaling, host refresh feature and the ability to save and open your work. If you are looking for a gaming platform or serious business group collaboration tool you would be hard presses to find a better platform.
Cons
One recommendation for the future is to have an integrated text chat window with journal for users to exchange ideas if they do not want to use a separate IM client.

Pros
NetPen has been great for quickly and easily doing collaborative diagramming and whiteboarding. Some of the features I found most useful are the ability to upload an image, being able to select multiple objects on a page to move around, a grid that can be toggled on and off, and the "fade" mode that lets me call attention to something by drawing a circle or arrow that fades away after a few seconds, which really reduces clutter. I also like the ability to draw on multiple pages, and being able to save and reload drawings for use later. I wish more freeware was as feature-packed as this tool.
