• So simple it must be over-complicated to work

  Pros

  Simple for people with no experience with programming. The debugger works since it emulates actual phoenix contact hardware. It's also nice how all the variables are organized for you which keeps things clean. Good tool to learn about flowcharts.

  Cons

  The program lacks basic variable types, such as Strings, doubles, and Booleans, so you are forced to use integers and "counters". A basic equation becomes several blocks in a flowchart thus over-complicating simple actions. The lack of strings is killer when trying to make a basic output message with different outcomes. It is a lot less work and less complicated to use java or c++.

  Summary

  Nanonavigator makes simple things in a text based language far too over-complicated. The simplicity of the flowchart is nice but not without basic variable types and the over-complicated "Math Block". This software is fine for learning but not for real development for the Phoenix Contact hardware.
