Encrypt and share your files online and get access to other shared files.

MyDiskServer is a small Java application that makes sharing files over the Internet fast, simple and secure. Any Internet browser can be used to access shared files, including mobile phones. Supports multiple user accounts and SSL encryption for secure data transfers. Can automatically generate zip archives (for multi-file download), image thumbnails (for image previewing) and playlists (for streaming audio).

Also supports uploading files of any size. Combines a Web server, remote IP address management and Web start technologies to create the easiest way to access your files from anywhere in the world. Version 2.11 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Pros
With Hard drive prices plummeting daily, and Tera bytes of potential software, videos, pictures needing to be mobile, this is the perfect answer. No need to lug around USB drives anymore

Dose not tell you how to install the program and to unpack it you can not find the program and it is a odd ball format JNPL and where do you find the program to unpack it and there is no help or tech file <p>to me it is just junk

After downloading pretty much every remote access/fileshareing program and testing them (had been using foldershare, avvenu but wanted something better)....I think i tried about 30 of them, all offering the world but failed to deliver. I finally found this one, and it works. <p>My conditions were that the remote user only requires a internet browser to gain access. Thus it is o/s independent. I use a mac at work and pc at home so needed to be able to access files from home while at work. Does this fine. It also needed to be able to run with minimal setup issues. Just needed to open/forward two ports in the firewall/router. It needs to be stable...so far so good. Been running it for about a week. <p>It needed to have secure access...check. <p>It also needed to have the ability to allow additional users(family friends) limited access (ie I specify exactly which folders they can see, the rest is blocked) to my drives so that they could easily see/download my photos etc. <p>This program does all of that, and its free, and its very easy to use/setup and run. <p>Would give it 5 outa 5 but im tight with my stars, and there are a few wishes I would like to see in possbile future revisions.

not really a con but its just a standalone java app, it would be nice to be able to mimimise this to the tray...although there are programs that will do this. <p>Although it has a log on user activity it would be nice to have real time stats on files being accessed, and also a bandwidth controller would be nice too. But hey its a free program! <p>Only other wish would be for a direct web address...rather than having to go thru the mydisk website.

its dead easy to use and is started by a single click. i can access my files anywhere witout having to transport-very useful cos u never know when u need stuff. can allow friends or family to see photos or listen to your music. great idea really reccomend.

when i tried to download the product from this site it didnt work properly so i found publishers website address as above and downloaded it from here easily.
