• A Great Alternative to VPN Proxies

  Pros

  Unlike VPNs this automated SSL proxy using dedicated servers works at the application level rather than hiding the IP address of the entire PC so it should be able to support port forwarding. Also the claims about being faster is true according to tests I performed at Speedtest.net by Ookla. Maximum download speed without a proxy was 55.28 Mbps, with MyHideIP proxy 54.52 Mbps, and with a VPN proxy 50.24 Mbps. Setup is easy as the settings are applied to supported browsers automatically by the application. These settings were an IP address of 127.0.0.1 and a port number of 21218

  Cons

  Only works automatically with supported browsers, and I found that although it adjusted the Pale Moon browser's proxy setting to 'Use System proxy settings' it did not hide my IP, so I had to enter the settings from Internet Explorer in the HTTP proxy field and tick 'Use this proxy server for all protocols'. I anticipate that a similar procedure would be necessary to activate the MyHideIP proxy in download managers and bitorrent clients.

  Summary

  A great alternative to VPNs and a lot easier to setup than an SSH tunnel. However it could be tricky to use with internet applications other than browsers.

  Pros

  easy download, small executable, does not need MS's 800 lb gorilla "Net Framework" to operate, easy install , works fast. have seen no issues in operation. good work Myiphide

  Summary

  My usage is infrequent, however I ,as a computer user of all types of technical programs for many years I have no hesitation recommending MyIphide to all classes of users. It's simple , easy to use and does the job.
