Create professional audio recordings and mixes, mix an unlimited number of tracks.
MixPad Professional Audio Mixer by NCH Software is a full-featured multitrack mixing software designed for professional audio production. Mix an unlimited number of music, vocal and audio tracks with support for more formats than any other mixer with MixPad Professional Audio Mixer. This audio production software is very easy to use. Simply drag and drop your audio clips onto the timeline where you will see MixPad's powerful music-mixing capabilities come to life.
Super easy to use. Some of these sorts of programs are just so difficult to learn. It only took me an hour or two and I'd already recorded a basic song with mixpad.
It has solid VST support so all my plugins work as expected and the MIDI editing and recording features are great. It also has a bunch of really good built in effects.
Cons
A couple of minor things here and there, but mostly cosmetic or not that important.
Summary
I highly recommend this to anyone starting out in music production looking for an alternative to some of the high end (with high prices) products available. The only thing that can stop you from creating a top notch project with mixpad is your own musical ability!
Easiest Program to Learn
tserafin1
Pros
Excellent. Easy to Learn. Up to date program.
Cons
Usually when i find a glitch, i realize it is mostly the hardware i am using. If you ever have issues with the program try updating your equipment.
Summary
Super Efficient. It's an extremely easy program to grasp. I knew nothing of mixing programs and never went to school to learn any of it. Now, with mix pad i can easily record the music I am constantly playing in bands and do it without the studio cost but with the studio quality. I would definitely recommend this program to others.
Perfect for first time recording from home artists!

Pros
Easy to use
Works
Great quality
Great for new artists
Cons
Sharing doesn't always work
Summary
I have found Mix Pad to be exactly what I've needed and have been looking for as a long time musician but new to recording software. MixPad does what I need it to do and that is record quality .MP3's.
Great concept, major bugs
boknjokk
Pros
The concept behind this program is great. I use it everytime I am writing music or mixing. You have great control over ever aspect of your project. Lots of options to customize it to your liking.
Cons
Program has a tendency to wipe out all the content of your project. So if you are working on something for three months and go to open it, the tracks will be there, but the actual audio data has been deleted. Forever. I guess the good news is that it shows you what clips you used, so you can go spending time searching for all that lost data! Fun!
Summary
When MixPad works, it works great! Just don't loose yourself in the confidence that your projects will be saved. You would think that if you paid for software, it would work and work correctly. I joined the NCH forums to see if loosing data was a thing, and it is! This "bug" has been around for at least a few years. Isn't this someone's job to fix this? Guess they don't have skilled folks in Australia to figure it out. It's a crap shoot and I am not sure if I would recommend it to anybody.
Their business model is styled after the Nigerian scams
SeanInCarlsbad
Pros
Better to go with Acoustica's Mixcraft for professional features, logical controls AND the strong programming.
Cons
This company is all about getting their software on your computer. Have a pre-sales question??? You may not ask a question about its capabilities... I installed this on a second hard drive and saw a series of programs that were not sound/driver-releated. No music software should be trying to hijack your web browser!
Summary
The business model is more for ransomware, not for music production.
This is a company that blocks you out of even looking at their forums without your personal information.
Take a hint, these guys aren't worth an effort when there are very highly-rated (by music industry professionals) softare programs for sub $80US. I was looking for a speed solution, something that would handle high quality VST plug-ins... Don't look here.
It needs much work
Computer-Nerd
Pros
1 A very nice interface
2 Everything is easy to find
3 It has a good amount of effects
4 Volume can be adjusted for individual clips
5 Other than WaveEditor, it has a record button
Cons
1 Speeding up a clip will automatically speed up everything in the file.
2 There is no option for creating a new file in the File menu. I have to keep closing the program and re-open it.
3 The Undo option will not undo effects that were put in.
4 When I right click on the program pinned on my task bar and click on the file that I was working on previously, it just adds a clip from that file to my current one that I have open. It doesn't open that file in a freshly new window.
Summary
I do love the way the editor looks and is easy to understand, and that's why I tried it out, but it needs much work I'm sorry to say. It is still enjoyable however.
Works, but tests your stamina.

Pros
Affordable, sensibly simple in concept. Does the job well... if you can spare the time to work around persistent glitches.
Cons
Crashed in a very simple track mix, on a good iMac. Not for the first time either. Message came up saying 'file was made on an older version of Mixpad. It can be recovered but will only play on newer versions' In other words - I'm stuffed. My mix has gone. No recovery. And I'm fed up with being expected to pay for nearly every bug fix that comes out.
The level-setting handles go unstable if you have more than four tracks up and you have to click your mouse around the screen to settle them. It's been like this through several versions ever since Mixpad's pc days. And why is it so clunky to do a minor edit or EQ? You have to buy the separate Wavepad for that.

Updated on Jun 9, 2012
Glad to add that a new customer support guy at NCH did sort my problem with the older version of Mixpad crashing. Encouraging. I would like to add two stars for that, but probably the Cnet system won't let me!
Aese of use
DAVE GOODISON
Pros
I found that the mixer was simple to use yet did a multitude of tasks that I needed one with step by step help available. I also downloaded the Switch Sound File Converter and the WavePad Sound Editor, again they're both realllllly easy to navigate
Cons
I didn't find any 'cons' althought I've only worked on them for 2 projects, about 8hrs

CRASH AND BURN WITH THIS SOFTWARE!!!!
diegotimido
Pros
The select a fade point feature is cool.
Cons
The program crashed right in the middle of a very intense project and i lost ALL of my work. no auto recovery feature. The controls are a pain in the you-know-what. when you try to click and drag it arbitrarily jumps to another part of the page. WTF.
Summary
The lock button is in a bad spot, so when you try to move your audio around, you end up locking the clip and are unable to move it around. When you make a selection, you can't just click of of the selection to deselect, you have to hit CTRL-D or go through the toolbar on the top. This program is a total pain in the A.
love this software
