This no-frills application reduces taskbar clutter by letting you manage programs from your system tray. Minimize Magic allows you to add applications you want to control and assign a hot key to easily restore and minimize programs. When you minimize a window for one of your designated applications, it's removed from the taskbar and reappears as a system tray icon. You can double-click any icon to reopen it, but if, for example, you have five Word documents open, they'll all have the same icon. Go to Task List to see a more detailed list of minimized windows and restore or close them. Also included is an odd little tool called Date Magic that displays the current day and that, if you double-click it, inserts the date in one of three formats into documents. Minimize Magic's bare-bones help file needs some beefing up, but overall this is an effective way for any user to manage windows.
It's a neat little program, so I tried to register it. I paid RegNet by credit card. A month later and literally three followups with RegNet and Genesoft just to get the stupid thing registered, they had still not given me a code. So I got my money refunded and tried to uninstall the expired trial. No can do. The uninstall had an error where it needed some sort of log file. The real problem was that it popped a 'register me' window every time I opened windows, so I had to download a startup utility to disable this thing. Needless to say, by the time I had finished this ordeal, I had to put up with about six times more trouble than the stupid program is worth. I DO NOT recommend it.
