Used MiniLock for Windows?
Editors’ Review
If you have ever wanted a quick and easy way to send encrypted files, then MiniLock is a solution worth exploring. This is a Chrome app, so you must run the Google Chrome browser in order to use it. It is a quick, effective method for encrypting files that can only be opened by people with your designated passphrase.
Pros
File selection interface: To encrypt a file using MiniLock, all you have to do is drag it into the large surface in the middle of the app, and it is automatically encrypted. You can also select the file by browsing manually, if you prefer. The interface is easy to understand and well designed.
Perfect function: None of the files we encrypted could be opened from non-designated accounts without the passphrase. The passphrase also worked perfectly in all tests to open the encrypted files.
File name encryption: The program also automatically encrypts the file name of the file you're sending. This is very helpful and a welcome added security feature in case someone somehow intercepts the message. Any unauthorized viewers of an email containing a file encrypted by MiniLock will have no idea what they are looking at.
Cons
Confusing passphrase setup: Upon initializing the app, it asks you to set up a passphrase. When you try to put your own in, it refuses it most of the time without explanation.
Bottom Line
MiniLock is an effective, easy-to-use file encryption app. If you're a Google Chrome user, this program makes a great addition to your app toolbox.
