Reveal tiles while avoiding mines on 3D surface.

Minesweeper on a 3D surface (polyhedron), with high-quality graphics and special effects when you win or lose, online world records, and a built-in auto-solver. Designed to be very comfortable for fans of the original Minesweeper. New tilings (not just squares) bring new challenges, and there are lots of boards to choose from. Rotate the boards in 3D to get at all the tiles. Personal best and world record times are stored for each board. Submit new world records from within the program (uses an encrypted format to prevent cheaters). The latest world records are downloaded automatically when you start the game (if an internet connection is present). You'll even be told when someone else beats one of your world records, so you can get your revenge. Game-stats like number of clicks and 3BV are also stored with each record time. To get you started, not only is the first click guaranteed to be safe, but the surrounding tiles will also be free of mines. That should ensure you get a useful open area to begin with. There's even a built-in auto-solver, so you can watch the computer play all by itself. It can always find a safe move if one exists, or it figures out exact probabilities of each tile containing a mine otherwise. You can also ask for a hint if you get stuck, which also helps you learn to play the game like a champ. A choice of sound effects completes the package. Even more addictive than the original.

1. 38 different polyhedra with 16 different levels of play each, totaling 608 boards <p> <p>2. Demo mode can be used to determine the rough solvability of a particular level. <p> <p>3. Flag mines at the end of the game instead of blindly guessing. <p> <p>4. Responsive graphics... doesn't lag.
Cons
I wish there was a feature that would allow a game loser to go back (after blowing up a mine) and have the computer show any possible moves that could have been done logically (in place of the move that lost the game). This would allow users to learn from their mistakes.

Pros
If you like "normal" Minesweeper, you will LOVE this game. So many boards! So many polyhedral shapes! So many new challeneges! This program was easily worth the $ and has run completely bug-free since installation.
Cons
The only "con" I can think of is that a user should be pretty good at the original Minesweeper, or s/he will be lost in Minesweeper 3d. Then again, don't we all fancy ourselves as "pretty good" at Minesweeper?

Pros
The different shapes to the cells really changes the "character" of the game. You will be more likely to successfully navigate through patches of triangles, but it will also be much slower. This can lead to different strategies to attack the board. <p> <p>I have played all of the boards on all of the levels, (and completed nearly all of them), and each one has interesting qualities that make it different from the others. If you don't believe me try the Great Stellated Dodecahedron on Subdivision Level 1. It is much harder than most Level 4 boards. GSD Level 2 is only a little easier, and Levels 4 and 8 are even easier (but still quite challenging to complete quickly).
Cons
With so many interesting boards and levels to play, I often have trouble figuring which one I want to attack next. (ok, that's something I like about it too)

This is one of the most addicting versions of minesweeper.. one of the few software programs I'm proud to have bought. One of the first .NET programs I know of. Great job Robert!
Cons
I haven't come up against any startup errors, and the high scores work great for me. The mines blowing up can be a bit 'shocking' when you don;t expect it. ;)
