• GOOD CONCEPT VERY UNSTABLE SOFTWARE

  Pros

  Jason is always ontop of things. Its a good concept for auction management software but could use some added features.

  Cons

  EXTREMELY HI CPU. This program hogs your entire computer when updating. You cant do anything else while this program updates your auctions. ALWAYS CRASHING. This software is always crashing and you cant just restore the database. You always have to update it from scratch. TOO LONG TO UPDATE. Updating your auction listings into This software takes a long time to update. You can update 4-6 item in one minute, and again you cant do anything on your computer while it updates because it takes everything from your computer. This has been told to the owner of Merlin but he's in denial of it and they know it does what we say.

  Summary

  Its a good concept program but it has bugs that need to be addresses such as the CPU hogging, database always crashing and needs added features.

• Security issue, installation error, locked file

  Pros

  Pros? NONE. Didn't get to use it, I had so many problems with the installation. Also, this email account and password thing really bothers me. Why would I give this company my password to my email account? It's not needed and it's a security issue.

  Cons

  TERRIBLE! Security issues. Installation errors. Put a locked file on my computer and I had to use File Assassin to unlock and then reboot in order to delete it.

  Summary

  Downloaded and installed. The setup asks for eBay acct and password, which I expected, but then it asks for your SMTP account information. They want the server address AND your password to your email account! Why would I give this company my password to my email account? They claim it's for notification of auction updates. So why not just ask for my email address like the other software packages? Skipped that section and almost shut it down then and uninstall it. I'm sorry I didn't. After I completed the set-up, it tells me a new version is available and there's a link to download the newest version from their site. What a joy! NOT. The install gives me access denied error. I check it out in Explorer and while the permissions looked fine, the file was locked. I had to use File Assassin to unlock and delete it. Them Revo to uninstall. Then into eBay to change my password. No thanks on this software.

  Pros

  I've reviewed all the desktop sniping tools available. Other tools might be better in 1 or 2 aspects like speed, multithreading, etc but overall AM wins for its broad functionality and adaptability.

  Cons

  Some minor bugs need to be squashed - I'm running version 8.2.62. For instance archived auctions cannot be displayed in IE8

  Summary

  Alot of sniping tools are available to manage bidding and some might be better at it than AM for example if you have a bunch of auctions closing at the same time AM can be a slight pain cause it doesnt multithread. However, none are better for tracking what happens after you win. To me this is more important than just placing snipes.

• Don't bother! "Trial" non-functional - can't test snipe

  Pros

  Interface seems functional, but the trial version is complete waste of time. The 5-star rating above WAS A PLANT! Can't imagine a purchasing sniping app w/out testing it in an auction first - because THATS WHAT MATTERS - DOES IT WIN?

  Cons

  Makes me SUSPICIOUS when app does not enable prospecive customers to test functionality real time in auction setting BEFORE PUTTING DOWN MONEY. Non-working trial tells me app DOES NOT BEAT COMPETITION, or else developers would let you see app work.

  Summary

  Don't bother... the LONE 5-star rating above is NOT REAL (you know this is the case when the reviewer raves about Customer Service...lol... because if the app had a decent UI/UX and functioned as it should you would never interface w/ CS!). Software developers often have a PR or marketing resources - or even one of their pals, add a glowing review on download.com and other similar sites. DO NOT BE DUPED HERE. On the other hand, this review is an actual unsolicited review from someone who's used sniping or bid scheduling apps for years - and is evaluating new apps for myself because the app I'd used previously didn't stay on top of their code and started getting beaten at the backend. I don't work for a software firm, but have been around technology and eBay for years; and I'm willing to share my experiences so other people can benefit. I wish more people would rate apps so I could move through the evaluation phase faster myself, so I'm doing my part.

  Uused AUCTION SENTRY & DELUXE since 2003 & MAGIC is far superior & of far better-quality. The customer support is all the above& more. The reply to a problem or question is almost instantaneous- matter of minutes at the most.. Cdr. Sig Pawley USN

  This might be a long list since there is a LOT I love from this program over other big ones, which I HAVE TRIED. I have done extensive research over the last few years, and I am using this program because: <p> <p> <p>1) Customization - you have a very large ability to customize the setup (if that is what you want to do) <p> <p> <p>2) You can setup a remote server and access the program from anywhere in the world to make changes or add new items. <p> <p> <p> <p>3) There are buttons for Opera, firefox and IE <p> <p> <p> <p>4) You don't even need the buttons, it will read the auction link or number from your clipboard (when using CNTRL-C) and it will load it in. <p> <p> <p> <p>5) Support is superb! I email him, and he responds within a few minutes!!! I couldn't believe it. <p> <p> <p> <p>6) The programmer actually incorporated a lot of my ideas in this release - whoa! <p> <p> <p> <p>7) Multiple user support <p> <p> <p> <p>8) You can setup logic bidding (IF, else, AND, OR..etc) <p> <p> <p> <p>9) CHEAP - this is relatively cheap compared to many of the other programs online. <p> <p> <p> <p>10) EMAIL and Cell Phone notification options <p> <p> <p> <p>11) Ehh, I give up, there are too many Pros to put up here - I'm too lazy. Try out the program yourself and see. I can't be happier.

  Uhmm... <p>hmmm... <p>... <p>Oh right, there is currently no multithreading support. Meaning, if you have 10 auctions ending the exact same second, and you set them up to snipe the same time it might not be able to complete all of the tasks by the time the auctions end because it can only do one task at a time. I spoke to the programmer and he told me he is working on a multithreading version. I personally never run into a scenario of having so many auctions ending the exact same second. This is valid for version 8.2.2 (in case you are reading this review in later version), it might not be valid in the next update.
