I was only able to convert about 40 out of 160 .mdi files. Then MODI began to consistently just stop working. "Microsoft Office Document Imaging has Stopped Working"
Summary
Download installer program to a temp directory and run it: MDI2TIFConverter.exe This installs the actual program to: C:\Program Files (x86)\modiconv Create a folder and put all .mdi files into c:\mdifiles. Create a folder c:\tifffiles Run Command Prompt. >cd \ C:\>cd "Program Files (x86)" C:\Program Files (x86)>cd modiconv C:\Program Files (x86)\modiconv>mdi2tif.exe -source C:\mdifiles -dest C:\tifffiles -log c\logmdi2tif.txt {type entire command on the same line} If you are lucky, the program will convert the .mdi files in C:\mdifiles into .tif files in C:\tifffiles. It only worked on about one-fourth of my files in C:\mdifiles before I started getting the "stopped working" messages. I removed some files, then re-ran the program. It did a few more. However, I finally gave up and will search for another, better, conversion program that has error-exception handling, etc.

no user interface can only convert individual files runs from command prompt, so you need to speak the language to get it to work.
Summary
for a converter that was put out by microsoft, you would think it was more user interface friendly, but this is literally just for converting individual files through your command prompt. I tried it and don't know that much about programming, but if it's got a user interface, I can usually figure out how to use it. I could not get it to work. This may be because I am not that adept at command prompt code, but then again, neither are most average users.
