Editors’ Review
You can store passwords or other information in this simple freeware's protected database, but some missing security features could leave your data open to others.
Master Password's simple but attractive interface has a toolbar to add and manage entries above a window to view them. Although you can't alter the labels or add new fields, Master Password tracks account names with corresponding username, password, and program path, plus you can add short notes if need be. The program requires you to create a log-in ID and password, but once you're in, the security measures are lax. When you view an entry, the password is masked by default, but the button to unmask it is displayed above the field and no password is required to change this setting. Master Password is not hidden and can be deleted without entering your log-in information.
If you just need a central location for your passwords, this freeware program is a very user-friendly option, but those needing more protection for their data should pass on Master Password.
