Get a tile map maker application.

The Program builds Maps, using small tiled squares, Big Tiled Squares, as well as HEX TILES. You can use any bitmap as your base Map board, all tiles can be used at the same creation time, or you can put the Map back into the program and use new Tiles etc. you have Pink as transparency, so you can build custom tiles. Hex tiles have a thicker border, so as to allow for war games to Zoom-out and still see edges of Hex. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

Very useful program for making maps

Pros
It's ability to make custom tiles and easily use them to make maps is incredibly useful.
Cons
It has some problems in the coding, one of them being whenever i try using it it says "failed to create new bitmap" but it still continues using the program, i just can't delete the tiles, so i made an empty tile piece to use and it works great.
Summary
Bottom line is if this program is worked on some more it will be even better.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Apr 22, 2009<p/>If the creator of this program actually reads these, can you send me the source code for this program?

Good easy map makeing! i had to get a quick rpg game going and this program helped. there seems to be a lot of 20x20 and 40x40 pixel tiles around the net to use with Map it

Pros
I found the squares big and small can be used in Dugeon Crafter, also you can make a hexed Map very quickly(desert and Grass etc..) I added buildings and roads to the Hex tiles and it worked great. I think the Simple right-click for tiles works well

I think more Hex tiles are needed. better erase needed.

Downloaded this software to try out and found that it does not do anything. It does not allow you to past anything to the grid and the floating area indicator does not align with the actual grids on the board. This software needs much work before it should be used by the public. I have immediately removed it and would recommend that you don't bother with it. It is simple bitmap technology based which you can do on your own with Paint.
