Madefire Comics & Motion Books for iOS

Madefire Motion Books is an entirely new way to experience comic books. Sound, precise control and cinematic motion are combined with the traditional graphic novel format to make for an all-new experience. The app takes great advantages of the high-quality display on modern iPhones and iPads to provide a new type of graphic novel experience.

Pros

High-quality experience: As an app designed to tell stories in a visual medium, this app is incredibly good looking. The design itself is fantastic. The quality of the images is very good, so you get to enjoy the full quality of the artist's work when viewing a book. There is also no degradation of the Images when you zoom in to get a closer look at any particular panel. Also, in the books that we tested, the sound was all high-quality and very appropriate to the story.

Immersive experience: Reading a comic has always been a fairly static experience. This app takes everything that is great about reading a comic or graphic novel, such as the quick, punchy writing and the visual storytelling, and combines it with elements we love about cinema, such as a great soundtrack and movement.

Smooth and immersive controls: The ability to control your own experience as you read the books, to zoom and pan around the frames you're looking at, gives every single reader a customized experience when viewing a book.

Great selection of free books: The app is free, and while some of the books are paid there is a great selection of free titles to choose from as well.

Cons

Large files mean slow download: When trying to download the three books, we found the app very slow, even with a high-quality Internet connection. The files appear to be quite large and load slowly into the app.

Bottom Line

If you enjoy visual storytelling, this is a fantastic app well worth checking out. It provides you with an almost entirely new way to experience a story. If you like comic books or graphic novels, you should love Madefire Motion Books.
