MacPhoneHome is a stealth computer security program that tracks the location of your computer every time it makes an Internet connection. When you boot your computer and go online, MacPhoneHome sends a stealth e-mail message containing its exact location to a pre-determined e-mail address set by the customer. In the event the computer is stolen, the customer must make a report with the local police and then notify the MacPhoneHome Command and Tracking Center, which will provide full tracking and recovery support. When the stolen computer goes online it will send a stealth message to the pre-determined e-mail address containing its location. Once this information is received, recovery agents at MacPhoneHome will work with our customer, the local ISP and the investigating law enforcement agency to recover the stolen property. MacPhoneHome provides worldwide tracking and recovery ability.
This company steadfastly refuses to comply with anti-spam laws and will not remove email addresses from their spam list when instructed to do so.
Summary
Do NOT get involved with this company ever. They have no morals, and refuse to obey federal laws. As far as I can tell, their "company" address is fake and does not even exist. The software is dodgy at best, and their claims (via their weekly spam) of retrieving supposedly high-profile people's computers on a weekly basis are highly questionable. It is ridiculous that the FTC have not shut this corrupt company down ages ago, since their tactics are flat-out illegal.
Sounds like a bad rap...

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
A while back I bought 25 licenses after we had a burglary at work and my laptops were stolen. The first disaster was during the update to Leopard - my Mac would hang during booting up. Turned out MacPhoneHome was the culprit. Brigadoon was silent on the problem for an awful long time before releasing a 10.5 compatible version. I now tried to install this new version on my new MacBook Pro but all I get is a "user name or password incorrect" - which they certainly are not. I contacted tech support and am still waiting for an answer that fixes the problem (I suspect the different endianess of Intel vs PowerPC machines is the root of the problem)

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Version 2.15 was a nice app, but this version (just released) blows it away!
MUCH easier to install and any issues that anyone had with either email relaying or email authentication are non-existent!
All you have to put in to get your own copy of the information it sends back is a destination email address.
BIG improvement in the documentation!!
If you own a Mac, you shouldn't leave home without it!
At $29.95, it's a steal!
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
