• Caution if upgrading to 4.0-- Won't launch

  It was a mainstay of my desktop and handy to jot down those flyby note needs

  It doesn't work and I can't locate the prior version, which I had paid for and was working fine. NO support and NO means to contact the developer. I gave it one star based on the fact that it doesn't work for all mac users.

  Summary

  The UPDATE version 4.0, won't launch and the previous version isn't downloadable. Instead the owners try to substitute their LE version which runs but doesn't recognize my license. Their website has no contact information and no support. It was a mainstay of my desktop is on the downside of useless if I can't get to all the data I had stored there.

  I have tried as many 'Note" software as I could find. Constantly looking for newer ideas. MacNote 3 should do everything you need. I access my notes there sometimes 5 or 10 times a day because all my storage note info is there. Purchase info on products like my TV, computers, car radio, address lists by type, birthday list, list of the 115 Mexican restaurants in town. Lists appear sorted by similar 'things' Full text formatting really helps... even though it is not yet widely accepted on mobile devices. It takes 3 or 4 hours to get all the usage features down but is so well worth that time.

  Cons

  It did load slow... it is now blazing fast.

  Summary

  Just try it for 3 days and plan to fill it with all sorts of 'get at quick' stuff!

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Great little ap on my laptop for Notes. Larger than stickies, easy to organize and indent. Super to use first line for note title. Plenty of space for storing details. Fits well with my to do management practices. It's nearly always running to the right of my main window as the place to take notes, sometimes sending them to myself, or storing an entire project.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I have continually monitored notepads over the past year and tried out most of them. I've settled on this one due to its superior search capability (3 different modes from local to global--I use global mostly), responsive user support (I've made about 10 requests in the past 2 months and ALL of my feature requests have been added), and its encryption capability (can protect individual notes). It has all the standard formatting features plus it is the only notepad I have found that includes highlighting capability (one of my feature requests). Also, no problem copy/pasting or dragging images into the notes. I also like the fact that the program remembers all of my setting each time I launch it: ruler, window placement, etc. In a number of other notepads I would have to reset these things every time I open them. Finally, it has nice import capability, allowing one to drag and drop collections of rtfd note files that can be exported from other notepad programs. While the author may be Japanese, his English seems to be as good as mine. I've found no grammatical mistakes whatsover by him during extensive emailing back and forth about feature requests. The English documentation is excellent.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I've been using MacNote 3 for several months now and I find it quite useful, stable, easy to learn and easy to use. I recommend people download it and try it out for the 30-day period. The current downloads, by the way, include manuals in both Japanese and English, so the language problem no longer gets in the way. Well, except when you visit the web site, which is still pretty much in Japanese. But given how well the app works, this shouldn't be necessary anyway. At $15 I think it's a bargain!
