- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />FW 410 still has no SPDIF input after version FireWire_OSX_1.6-1174.dmg Had to drop back to this after testing the last two driver releases. Maybe it is my unit? Maybe not? But I am thinking about a different FW audio device now. Too bad, I have alot fo M-Audio stuff and it has been generally pretty good.

I've spent enough time now with the 410 to dump it...i've had enough. The 410 is critical in its firewire behaviour with other fw-devices. And mine has developed noise on the output bus. It used to work so-so with my 2 x 2,5 G5. Oh and it does not work at all with my new MacPro, even though the 1.7.2 driver is specifically written for Intel-Macs. M-Audio! I'm tired of this pretty box!
When will M-audio properly address this units...

- ...issues?<br />This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I'm in complete shock that more haven't come forward to complain about the Firewire 410. Driver release, one after another, and the [unit] is still full of bugs. The [unit] has two, yes two, firewire ports available. Not only is this a useless feature, as NO DEVICE will work (including an additional 410). And, it clogs your entire firewire bus, preventing normal functioning ofany other firewire device. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Running any other firewire device while the [410] is connected to the same bus on any G4 or G5 Apple computer may cause damage to your external monitors, crash your computer and/or applications including data, or will simply not function at all. *This is all based on personal experience-results may vary.

- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />m-audio does not have forums on their site. there is a reason. their drivers are unreliable and highly incompatible. absolutely refuse to provide any documentation nor do they accept returns. if you value the stability of your computer, stay clear. stay well clear.

- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I installed this new driver and found that once the 410 is up-and-running I can no longer use my other FW devices. (Hard drive, CD burner) When I plug those devices into my mac (G5 2x2 panther) I lose the connection to the 410. I re-installed the previous driver and all is back to normal. -curteye
