Configure your EtherFast Cable or DSL router quickly and easily with this firmware update.
This download updates the firmware for Linksys EtherFast Cable and DSL routers to 1.37. This version features a pull-down menu for each port range on the port forwarding configuration page that allows selection of UDP, TCP, or Both and adds support for the RAS protocol. It also includes a few behind-the-scenes modifications, textual changes, and relocation of a couple of functions within the router's HTML configuration page hierarchy.
Linksys products are sold through a wide variety of venues as "Mac Products" but the company reponded to my email question by saying that they don't support Macintosh. Who is playing who for the fool here? Is Linksys presenting its products to vendors as Mac compatible simply in order to get more sales? If not, they should make it clear to 3rd party vendors that their products are not to be sold as Mac compatible. If Linksys is telling stories, the Feds should be investigating for false advertisng and/or fraud.

From the LinkSys Web Page: "Please note that firmware is upgraded for the resolution of any problems you may be encountering with the router and not for additional features. Installing newer firmware on a presently-functioning router may result in router malfunction. Please be aware of this when downloading firmware."
Does not support multiple VPN connections.

Prior to buying this product I was using the Sygate product to allow multiple computers to have internet access and have up to four VPN connections at a time. I never had any problems, but the downside was that I had to leave a PC on all of the time. I installed this product to remedy that, and it it is great for Internet access only, but has very poor support for multiple VPN clients, whereas the Sygate software did not. I am very disappointed. I am using a Cisco 5000 VPN client with a NAT transparency feature and can only maintain one stable connection at a time. Also, I am disappointed with the fact that on their website they claim to support multiple platforms, but will only support Windows users for tech support. WHat is up with that?
This is NOT a Mac download!

The CNET mac newsletter had a link to this download. However, when I downloaded the updater it turns out to be a Windows "exe" file which of course will not run on a Mac.

My Linksys router is working fine. Why on earth would I want to mess with it now?
The updater is a Windows .exe file!

The firmware updater is supposedly to be run on a Mac, and it's located in the Mac drivers section of this site, but when I downloaded it there was only a .exe file. Last time I checked, Macs didn't run .exe files without the use of a third part emulator. Fortunately I have Virtual PC and was able to update the firmware from 1.30 to 1.37. Maybe they'll upate this site soon with an actual Mac version.
A functioning download link would be nice!
