Check the validity of your favorite sites with this plain but functional application. Link200 offers an easy step-by-step wizard to check sites you've bookmarked and removes those with faulty addresses. It works on Internet Explorer, Netscape, and Firefox browsers to quickly scan and produce a report of bad sites. You can't choose which items will be deleted; Link200 removes all the sites it deems faulty. A backup file is created of deleted addresses, though the program doesn't allow you to restore them. For anyone with an unruly folder of bookmarked sites, this freeware is a simple and inexpensive way to help get it under control by weeding out invalid sites.

Works fast but some false positives
anthas_blissMay 12, 2009
Pros
- quite fast scanning - easy to understand wizard
Cons
- some false positives (even google's mailservice Postini)
Summary
This is a lightweight and excellent tool to check your bookmarks. Once the file is loaded, you can leave the program do it's thing. My 500 delicious-bookmarks were scanned in under 9 minutes. Only con: some false positives. I had 17 "broken" links, from whom about 10 turned out to be actually broken. Being cautious or doing some hand-checking on reported links is certainly necessary.
Simple, effective

Pros
It works fast, lots of feedback on bad links, cleans fast.
Cons
Could use an option to delete empty folders.
Summary
I seem to collect bookmarks, but my OCD forces me to check them occasionally to clean them out. This makes that so much simpler. I had about 300 bookmarks in 54 folders, and it scanned quickly. It gave me a report on what links were questionable or bad and why, then gave me the option to uncheck those I wanted to keep. It cleaned the files very quickly. It's not an advanced bookmark manager, but if you just want to clean out your bad links, it's just right.
Doesn't work with FF 3
kunalasharSeptember 12, 2008
Pros
Simple UI.
Cons
Doesn't work with FF 3 even though it's website claims it works with most browsers.
Summary
If you don't use FF 3, then AM-Deadlink is a better, full-featured free product. (it doesn't work with FF 3 either).

Best check I have found
mrdblackJune 3, 2005
Pros
I had almost 9000 links to check. Done. Removed about 3000 bad ones. I do not know why the user who reported they could only check 40. I suspect is was not this utility that was the problem.
Cons
I want more I tell ya more! I have four machines, thousands of links. I have FireFox and Internet Explorer. I want to merge, sync, update, add, edit, delete, and oh ya, clean all those links. If only there was one utility to do it all!
Summary
Won't verify good links!

Pros
Cons
Summary
This program only checks 40 links and doesn't even verify links that are good. Won't let you choose which links to delete (all or nothing. It's a waste of time!
