Love LAVU!!!!!

- Researching POS applications, I came across Lavu, tried it out, and I have never looked back! It's price point is remarkable, it's fast, gives me a wide range of functionality, and the reporting is exactly what I need for operating successfully. When I have to call in, they provide top-notch support, I have recommended this to my friends. It's a great app.

- Lavu is a great POS system at an affordable price, systems like the one I have would have cost me double or triple of what I paid. Easy to use and make modifications to any menu. And the back office is unbelievable as well. Inventory, hourly sales,employee time, the list goes on and on of what it's capable of doing. Their team at Lavu are always improving on their operating system, it almost seems monthly.

- I can't forget to mention the support team, you can call these guys and gals at any time and they are quick to answer any questions you may have. This by far is the most professional and polite customer service that I've had the pleasure of dealing with! Keep up the good work Lavu.

- I have been a Lavu customer for over 16 months. The system is fantastic. We used to use Aloha. I have been able to cut my employee costs and increase customer satisfaction. By being able to use the iPod's, my servers don't have to leave the dining area.

- I have always had my calls returned or email answered. While they did that very quickly for the most part, I sure do like when they answer. They have been working to make that happen.

- I started using Lavu Point of Sale about 2 years ago. Before switching to the system we were using paper tickets. Not only are we now spending less time managing each order, accuracy has gone up, and my shrinkage has gone down. The biggest time savings is getting the customers checked out. Previously during our lunch rush we would have a line of people waiting to pay and leave, now we are able to handle them as they come up to the counter since everything is already totaled up in the system. Another big help has been the ability to use iPods to take orders at the table. We usually have a rush after church on Sundays, sometimes a line at the door. Before my servers had to go to the table, take the order, then take the ticket back to the kitchen. Now my servers go to the table, take the order, hit send and it prints in the kitchen. Then they can go straight to the next table. The biggest thing for us has been the addition of "always offline mode". You just use the system and the orders go to the cloud in the background. When we first got setup we had some issues with the internet which interfered with using the system. They offered us a local server option but I did not want to install more hardware. While my internet situation was much improved by switching from DSL to cable I always worried that my connection going out could be a possibility. With the new version (3.0.3) the system keeps working even if my internet connection were to go out.

- Weekly problems that will affect your employees and customers. I tried them out for 3-4 months and had weekly, problems with the system dropping off line, freezing, completely shutting off. On top of that, once I switched to a real POS system, Lavu continued to bill me. Once I caught that 3 months later, their response was basically "sorry, you should have cancelled the service".

- Maybe it would work for a small coffee shop or very small operations, however if you are doing anything over 500k a year, don't waste your time. Purchase a real POS system... Highly recommend Dinerware.

- I gave Poslavu 4 Stars so as to leave room for an extra star when the team over there gets it to where they want it....without doubt it will be a 5 star product at some point in the near future. We've been using Poslavu in our restaurant for a little over 1 year and our overall experience has been fantastic. When we initially set up the system the support staff were excellent and really helpful. Anytime we've had an issue I've been able to get it resolved through the forums very quickly. We have a 70 seat restaurant and have a high volume of take-away orders. We have just been through our peak season (we are a gateway town for the snow fields) and over that 3 month period Poslavu worked like charm. It's not uncommon to turn the tables 3 times a night and the phone seems like it will never stop ringing. On weekends we literally have to close the doors when we run out of food. Here and there we had the odd issue as described above but with a little understanding of how the system works these can easily be resolved. We have been extremely happy with our choice to use Poslavu, the support staff are excellent, the dev team are constantly working to make the system better and better and most importantly our restaurant workflow is so much better and that means quicker and more efficient service so our customers are thrilled too. I would say that the system is very stable, those having problems may need to look at how they have everything set up.

- I am user of POS Lavu since september 2012, for me it always worked fine , I have never a single issue, i think most people who had issue with it need to fix the IF to fix so that will protect eventual auto IP setting, POS lavu is appreciated by our employees and clients, the system offers several features, so take your time to setup for your restaurant, the system also works in cloud so internet speed is important,
Finally iPad POS that can compete with legacy POS.

- You need a REALLY great router You also need a REALLY robust download and upload internet speed Reporting still a little weak No Quickbooks connectivity

- This company has come along way in the 2 years I've used it. They have chipped away at the long list of short-comings, and are now currently offering a very robust product. The printer issues (lost tickets) are totally fixed, and they just released a new admin site. It's tough when the product they sell (software) is so dependent on products others sell (hardware). If you router drops the signal for even a second (which they can do often) you could lose contact with printers and/or other terminals. If you have a weak ISP, you can loose contact with everything! We're opening a second location and going with wired printers, a strong router, and a 10 Mbps x 1 Mbps internet speed that should make everything run perfectly!
If I could give it zero stars, I would.

- If you run a pet store, or a one room pub, or a gift shop, it might work. It does NOT work for large venues. Not functional. Crashes often if you have a business that can serve over 25 customers. Had a major hacking on their site three months ago, and we lost a few thousand dollars because we lost all of the data. It crashed around the world.
- Summary
- Just don't do it. Put the 15k it costs for their entire system toward one of the big boys: Micros, Aloha or digital dining. Don't buy this piece of crap.
