King James Version (KJV) commonly known as Authorised Version is an english translation of the Christian Bible for the church of England. The king James of England ordered this translation in 1604 and it was completed in 1611.

The translation was made by 47 scholars members of the Church of England.

It was the third translation into English approved by the English Church authorities (after the Great Bible of King Henry VIII and the Bishops Bible of 1568). The Authorized Version was meant to replace the Bishop's Bible as the official version for readings in the Church of England.

The King James Version became the most widely printed book in history and has had a big influence on the literature of the last centuries.
